Check engine light came on as I rolled into the parking lot. Code 68 - VSS (variable speed sensor) continuity check. I can finally return this borrowed open diff to El Presidente. After checking the pattern with marking compound, I determined the pinion gear is set a little too far in, but it’s run that way for years now so I just decided to leave it and set the backlash. It was a put together third from Lucky 8 done by the previous owner. I’ve been wanting to regear to 4.88’s, so if I shred these then I’ll just use it as an excuse to regear both axles.
