  1. Well if you haven't noticed...Rovicon VI tickets are on sale now!! As we're early on getting the word out for the marketing efforts love to get those of you who have joined to share the word on Instagram and Facebook. Feel free to tag us or invite us to be a contributor to your social post. Some updates on the latest podcast, but we've added a New sponsor in Avio wines owned by club member Sefano. Additionally, for the first time, we'll be having dinner Saturday night catered at the Springs plus move event swag. This year's theme is the iconic Iron Maiden 🙂. Hope to see as many as you can out there!
  2. Bummer on timing as we are in Morro Bay...but wish we could make it. Glad to see you are getting great use out of that book!
  3. If you switch to the BW you will need new drive shafts as the lengths won't directly fit so becomes an added cost. On the ratios, D1 comes with 1.2 high range and stock 3.32 low. You obviously can change both and I even have a 1:00 high range if you wanted to go that direction. Heck could probably sell you the TCase and seal kit I have with it. It would give more mileage on flat ground but be a little more gutless on mountain climbs like up I80. So there is a 1.4 and 1.6 option from the defenders which will allow it to have more gusto around town and kill some mileage. Those are also cross-cut gears so louder, some early D1s had the 1.4 stock. The more interesting is the low-range gears, you can get 30% reduction which is 4.3:1, and 50% which is a 5:1. Don's D1 has the 30% and seems ideal with the automatic trans. I believe Mike Foster's D90 w/ manual has the 50% and definitely helps there.
  4. This is my suggestions, used ones are around $300 and you really won't know what you have and it will likely leak so you'll be wanting to at the least a seal refresh.
  5. This is on my bucket list and I have friends racing this year too...but I always seem to poorly plan for this. Next year! Please post lots of pics...
  6. Well coming up on the second Thursday of the month and year...so do we have a group of folks who want to get together this coming week? Let me know if you can make and suggestions on places...can be a driveway or a Pub. Cheers
  7. I've just bought the Falkens, looking forward to using from DD to mild off road. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Just a little heads up, Robert has graciously accepted my request to run the event this year. I'm really bummed as I really enjoy this one, however, I've come down with an illness and it's best for me to stay at sea level. I'm looking forward to hearing the stories, a little bummed it looks like a dirt road adventure vs a snowy one. I had already purchased a tree permit so if you haven't yet let me know and I'll email you mine or if you want a second tree. Cheers!

  10. I caught up on the episodes during my drive to Utah for Thanksgiving. Loved the discussion around projects and likely hood to be completely!! [emoji2957] BTW, I am getting things done on my project...did appreciate the help from a friend to learn how to start welding and some basic instructions on fabrication. Now I'm onto balancing free time for projects and saving money for the next round of parts. It was fun to hear myself on the air. The call in function sounds great though...some options there for you to bring on other guest. Looking forward to the next episode on my way home... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Man, it's been too long since I made time to work on anything! But couple projects knocked out... always takes more time than you think [emoji23]. First was removing the oil cooler lines from the LS and placing a cap over it. Gives more room for exhaust so that's good. Next was the front grill, removing the old radiator support pieces so I will have room for a new larger radiator. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It's time of the year to plan our Xmas tree run! Planning for Saturday, December 2nd, the tree permits go on sale 11/7 and can sell out quickly. We'll be in the Truckee River corridor again this year as last year went really well. Here's the link to secure a permit. https://www.recreation.gov/tree-permits/b2ce4e36-ebd2-11ea-b83f-6e0e43d29f74 The plan is to meet in Truckee at the Donner Creek Brewing Company, they open around 11 AM. Thinking we'll head out to trailhead around 1 p.m. and it's just a mile down the road to the area. Here's the link to the tree-cutting area. https://goo.gl/maps/rAnJd85pMC8H6xLb6 Now the roads go back for a ways and drops you back out onto the 89, we'll see how many people feel like exploring up the road. For the most part, it's used at this time to access the cutting areas, but it is an unplowed forest service road. It's the mountain side so the kids had lots of run sledding down the hills and expect more of the same if we have snow.
