  1. That is a *VERY* good looking fairing. Wow.
  2. Pretty much the case for all non-Japanese independent suspension vehicles. Front suspension bushings go through hell and are probably the single most frequent repair I've done on all my cars over time. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. I started the Rover yesterday after almost a month, for whatever that's worth.
  4. You must have better luck than I... ...I have a 600 ft-lb impact gun I run off a 26 gallon air tank, and run into things that are too stuck for the gun on a regular basis.
  5. Yikes, Lutzi....you actually let the D2 see the younger model? They get very jealous....not something you want to incite. I hope your AAA membership is current.
  6. I am indeed running an alpha 1.... I'd love to try those, thanks! Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  7. The safety chain is all kinds of goofy and is already on my list of things to fix this winter, but I think the length is actually correct. The trailer has a detachable tongue and the chains are mounted just behind the detachment point. My understanding is that safety chains can't be mounted to any detachable part of the trailer frame, but I need to research more. But, right now it only has one chain (the attachment point on the left is AWOL) and the chain is MUCH too light for the boat. My utility trailer has much heavier duty chains. The attachment point on the right also looks very weak. Oh, and it doesn't have a heavy duty clip, but rather the seller had been using a small bolt through the chain with a small nut on it to loop it back to itself. I think I've been hitting around 4400 max but I don't like to spend much time up there since I haven't gotten fully comfortable with the reliability of this one yet. I'm a 1.82 ratio on the OD. From what I've seen with this boat, most people seem to suggest 17 for acceleration and 19 for speed, and not really much out of that range. I fully support getting the Donzi out there!
  8. Chaparral, but so far so good. We took her up to Berryessa over the weekend, and had been out two times prior since I gave her the RIGHT amount of oil. Haven't seen it leaking any more since then, so I'm happy. I still can't believe that guy had a full 4 extra quarts in there. From what I can tell it must have just been coming up the breathers, which were thoroughly coated in oil. I do think the carb needs to be rebuilt. It's a bit tough to start when hot if I let it sit for more than 10 minutes or so, so I think the springs are too weak and flooding the engine. Also, it's got a 21p prop which makes it too sluggish from a standing start for my tastes. For the price I paid, I can deal with that without being too annoyed.
  9. After a LOOOONG time searching, I finally found a genuine Safety Devices rack. Mounted my Polymax flooring to it and got it mounted to the roof. The Brownchurch on the RRC spoiled me....mounting this thing was a pain in the rear to align and took much longer than expected. But, it feels very solid and gives me a decent amount of room (though definitely less than the Brownchurch). Next up, time to get the lights up there! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/6829c05ad8c6e320803d5be9a00654d9.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160906/860de675aacf36877daca8d39e5acd63.jpg Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  10. Yep. Also I'll be in Sac Thursday if you want to meet up. Oh, I also have Thule bars with ski racks instead, depending on what you're looking to do. Those are $100. Pics later. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  11. Nice! By the way, I have a P38 factory rack if you're interested. I have more in it than $30, but I could do $50. My door handles are in sad shape too. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  12. Yikes. No bueno. I spent last night following Brenton's video for an end-to-end splice on my winch line. Kudos to those of you who find the process "easy" - I found it time consuming and frustrating (hint, I was able to replace the starter on my brother's 4Runner in less time). Oh well, it's done now and seemed quite solid.
  13. It's a Challenger lift. It's not repair-shop grade as they aren't a repair shop, it's just used for R&D occasionally. But it's in a warehouse on a thick, high-pressure slab. And yes, for a 4 post, I would want a pair of bridge jacks on it. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
  14. I have access to a 2-post via a friend and I don't care for it at all. Even bolted to a ridiculously thick, high-pressure warehouse slab it still has a lot of flex in it and I never feel very comfortable under the vehicle. Plus, having a lift for simple things like fluid changes would be nice, and the time/effort to properly position the vehicle on a 2-post lift isn't worth it for those simple jobs. The solution I decided on for my dream garage is a 4-post lift with a pair of bridge jacks that would still let me get all 4 wheels off the ground if needed.
