  1. When its 100+ on the drive home you must adapt a poor man's swamp cooler.
  2. Well I found another d1 for a good deal so mistakes were made and its on the trailer. If no one hears from me in a few days have the police investigate julia.
  3. Hellow follower rover folks for the july morg we will be running slick rock trail the weekend of the 19 to 20. The trail is a rock crawling trail but not to the level of rubicon or hell hole. The plan will be to set up a base camp on the Utica side then run the trail to the lake alpine side and if we get to the alpine campground by noon we can have lunch at the restaurant there. From there we can take the sissy way back to camp on the road or run the trail backwards. Good sliders and armor is needed as it's still considered a rock trail, lockers front and rear arnt a full necessity but will make the trail easier as will atleast a 32 inch tire. There is one challenge in the middle of the trail called the gauntlet that would provide a large challenge to full independent suspension trucks so enter with that in mind knowing a winch might be needed there. We will hopefully be camped near a creek and the lake so swimming and relaxing are a must on this trip. Vehicle requirements . A, as good as a rover a can run, running rover . Sliders and armor . Good recovery points . 32 inch tire . Good attitude twords potential scratches and body damage . Start out with non broken motor mounts ........ oliver For those that want to come up and simply camp or arnt equipped for the trail I'm sure we can find open seats or there are several mild trails in the area if a second group wants to make a different run. This is a link to rovicon 3 where we were rerouted to slick rock due to wild fires. So do to the shortness of the trail people mainly Don were taking the maga party lines so dont let that be an intimidating factor. https://photos.app.goo.gl/VRxFfk9J1e9WLa7k7 If you plan to make it post up here so we can get a gestimated head count. And any questions feel free to reach out.
  4. I did a thing and am not sure if I should admit it and am really hoping Robert doesnt read this one as he'll be like a disappointed uncle, but I coil converted the lr3. Back story I was out in the desert and it was just cooper and I and the compressor seized I finally realized it when the suspension had dropped about halfway and during the limp out I high centered and was stuck. We spent the night and luckily the "if were not home by 9" plan worked and julia came and found us. I replaced the compressor and 3 weeks later an air bag went out and in the fit of rage I ordered the coil conversion. After ordering it I lay awake at night worried over what I ordered but I was also reminded of sleeping in the back with a blanket over failed air. So I installed them and so far I'm not deeply upset. The ride quality is definitely not like a good air set up but it's not like a d1. All the terrain response stuff as in traction control, lockers hill decent all work well. One issues is squatting while towing but we use our truck for tow duties so not an issue for us. All in all so far I dont think it's on par with a good air set up but it's not as bad as I thought it could be. Time will definitely tell but as of now theres a testing coil lr3.
  5. Funny how the biggest headachs and break downs tend to be in the city streets and highways. I feel that's a sign to stay in the mountains forever.
  6. Sounds like a fun run I wish we could make it. Hopefully theres still some snow to play in up there.
  7. If anyone is planning on going I'll be getting there late late Friday evening or early Saturday but rover folk will be there from friday to sunday. Directions per john for his place and where everyone will be at. Our address to type into your GPS is 1400 Bay Hill Road, Bodega Bay. Gate code is #6444. Drive about a mile to the house area, then continue straight past the house (not turning left towards the Mercantile, our on farm store). The road will get a bit worse and go down a long hill. In about half a mile from the house you will emerge into a big meadow, that is our gathering site. Pick a spot for your Land Rover and set up camp!
  8. Tell them it's a required marketing event for the brewery.
  9. Oh you show off, but I'm hoping you can and bring some baja stories I'm excited to hear all about it.
  10. The mendo recce not a club rover group email list is haveing their 31st mendo gathering at salmon creek ranch on april 26 -27. This is the same ranch where we will be holding our nclr meeting of the members in a few months. This is not a club event but mainly a gathering of old grumpy rover folks that have been meeting up since before I was born. We are all welcome to join, it's down in John's field so its dispersed camping and bring your own food and drink. Greg knows more of the mendo history then I and will hopefully chime in with some talk on the group. If your intrested in going please feel free and I'll post more info as it gets closer and if you miss out dont be bummed as we will hopefully get everyone in the nclr club there at the meeting of the members trip.
  11. We had to run from reno to vacaville for rover parts and got to listen to this one on the way, and per usual a great listen. Welders were never dove into which has me depressed as it's my favorite trail tool. But one other for the tool kit I always have is a spud wrench. It's not the perfect tool for any one job but can do a great many jobs. Mine has an adjustable wrench/pipe wrench jaw, hammer head, and the best part the spike. When trying to align bent up holes or twisted suspension it's a god send.
  12. I definitely wish I could make this one work, trail repairs and the mabey not so good habits on wrenching is one of my favorite topics. Keep up the good work eric as a unbiased critic of rover podcasts this one is definitely the best.
  13. Sad I missed out but work had our mandatory day of safety on Saturday. We as a club need to work on how we can all get paid to camp and work on rovers. How did the new range rover do mike?
  14. Work screwed me over on this one again unfortunately. We were hoping to make it but unfortunately we will be sentenced to day dreaming of rovers. That being said I'd definitely like to get together with mike and do some northern nevada runs too we can all plan something out on another topic page soon. Good luck to everyone going and bring some snow back we need it.
  15. Well just finished the latest podcast and another 5 star listen....mostly. Julia has been pretty enthralled in the rebelle rally lately so that was a very cool topic. Now for my gripe, the last podcast I was on with eric ran later in the evening as they should. Eric then proceeded to say hey just crash here, some higher power said just go home tyler. And thank that higher power as I now learn Eric's house is haunted. All jokes but not jokes aside another great podcast by the man the myth the legend eric.
