Well it's with great sadness that the end of an era has come. My 2006 LR3 has a blown head gasket(s) and it's going to cost too much to fix it. I think I'm going to move on to a different platform so I will be selling my off-road goodies that are LR3 specific.

Here's a list of what I'm going to initially sell. Let me know if there is anything else that you're interested in. If its specific parts or the whole thing.

    • ARB front bumper
    • TR rear bumper with steps and tire swing out
    • TR sliders with nerf bars
    • Baja Rack roof rack
    • FR rear ladder
    • FR drawer system
    • Tan 3rd row seats
    • Tan 2nd row middle seat
    • Rear cargo cover
    • Front plastic fenders
    • Traxide dual battery kit
    • Stock fog lights

The new forum software isn't allowing me to add attachments because apparently I have too many even though I'm a newbie. lol so I made a lightroom page with all my pictures. Enjoy.

Ok rover gurus I need some knowledge I recently got a new to me d1 and it has rovertyme rear trailing arms that are well worn in. So the bushings are pretty much not there and my question is does anyone know if the rovertyme rear trailing arms use a special bushing or is it just a stock rover. Thanks

I had them on the black RRC,  I had to swap them out and went with the poly bushings...super simple install as they are two pieces and didn't require a press.

hey are you going to run dual tanks  for fuel injection.   do you have them.   if not I have two tanks and the Holley in tank fuel pumps

I think there are tanks floating around, but if you have two saddle tanks, cleaned and ready to go with the proper pumps I'm really interested!

  4. Time to catch up from the last post.  Reality is lot's of progress made but also some steps backwards at the same time.

I had been having the toughest time lining the splines on the output shaft to the LT230, well we solved that!

I had picked up some transmission and transfer case mounts from Scully Off Road that are typically used in Defender LS conversions.

The unfortunate part is, most use the automatic or more modern manual transmissions.  I elected to go with a more vintage option but does give great low gearing in return.

The sm420 has a "buldge" on the passenger side so I elected to use the clocking mounts on the adapter to miss the buldge.

Given that,  I'm looking at the fact the mounts don't line up as intended and the work to use them doesn't make sense.

So now on to sourcing a net new universal trans mount an leveraging the dana 300 adapter!

Agree with Paul a bit here. Love the stories from the trails like who broke what, the fight story was also funny, but as a newbie I’m also interested in tips and the events themselves. What does everyone bring. What spares should you have. How do people camp in snow etc. I guess all flows into story telling too

I've created enough stories to fuel their fire there...LOL.

Great suggestions from you and Paul.

If you want to make it back from the trail without incident buy a "Land Cruiser" lol...

As the Rovicon Swag Master (title I just made up) and host of the pod, I figured I needed to get something going. So here we have koozies for Tall Cans since our beer sponsor (East Brother Beer Co) only cans in tall.  Guests of the pod will leave with a koozie or two and also anybody who I run into that wants one can have one.

In that case, I need to drive down!!

  7. The Canvas tents like the OZ or ever Overland Pros had some not sure if they still do are an amazing four season tent.

The gazelle tent is one that's on my radar for future spend,  they have great review for a four season as well.  Typically those tents are great in winter and can be warm in summer unless you open all the doors.

I had a roof top tent and they have their pluses for sure!!  But, I'm more into reducing the things I bring.  So depending on who's coming in summer I'm leaning towards hammocks or a Gazelle tent unless I can find an Overland Pros ground tent.

  8. We have a link to share the pictures from the trip.

This turned out to be best spot yet, for many reasons...highly likely to always have snow this time of year and some great fire roads to explore in the snow.

Bathroom facilities on site, less than a mile from the S89 exit.

So next year I'll have folks meet up at Donner Creek Brewing for a beer/lunch.  Then we'll depart from there around 1pm.

Will make it easy to accommodate groups any direction at various times.

If you weren't able to make this one work but are still interested, definitely worth the trip and I believe still tree permits available.

  9. Okay, so plan for those making it...meet up at 1030 ish at the Starbucks off Sierra College drive from I80.

We'll plan to leave around 11 and head for Truckee and meet up at the Savemart next to McDonalds off of 89 South around 1230-1PM.

The tree area is just south near Granite Flat camp ground.  We'll look for a tree and check out the Truckee river too.

After that we can see what folks are up for...lunch likely and maybe some snowshoeing/sledding.

Please message me or comment here if you are going.

So far I know of Tyler and Gabe who are coming.

The China Wall area was heavily impacted by the Mosquito fire and much of it is closed to cutting this year:

Also, given the relatively low elevation the trees weren't great last year. Thoughts on an alternative location?

Wow, I hadn't seen that notice before!! Well then, I'll need to see about other potential locations.

  11. So we have a club Fordyce run, but we've been busy to get it on the forum...as this started as a discussion during rovicon.

So last minute in a way. But you can still meet up!

Starting tonight camping at the first water crossing. Then see if we can make it through it Saturday or maybe end up Sunday.

Don and Tyler are arriving late tonight, so hit them up for a caravan in.

Others like Lutz, Scully, Jesse and Gus are navigating traffic now.

Plan for snow...it will be cold!

    Afternoon all,

I am looking at a 72 Series III, but it does not have the Fairy OD (or similar) installed.  It looks like it should not be too complicated, if I decided to add it I would prob. use a shop anyways.  My question was actually, if anyone has an older Rover and their thoughts about them.  How much additional MPH can you get with them?  Is it worth it? If I end up with this ride, I would be likely driving it daily, I rarely get on the freeway for more than an exit or two, my commute to work is 10 miles a day. (Yes, I am very lucky to live near where I work.)  Still, it would seem to be needed for any sort of regular trips on the freeway.

The series rovers are my favorite!  They make every outing an adventure...definitely not for grand touring!

Over drives are nice if you are keeping original, but also above 55 things shake...that said I'm putting an LS in mine and plenty others have them as well and they go down the road quickly...just not quietly. 😆

  13. Okay, so time for our annual Xmas Tree run/Snow run! We're planning to head up this Saturday, November 26th, and cut down xmas trees ideally we will have some snow, so keep your fingers crossed!

We are heading to China wall and here's a Google link for reference.

    https://goo.gl/maps/VuBWMpiUSKHy6Tiy5

You will need a tree permit for Tahoe national forest and they are $10, not yet available, usually go on sale beginning of November. Check back here and I'll let you know when I see them.

    Have a read through here.

    https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/tahoe/home/?cid=fseprd677370&width=full

    For the details:

Meeting from 10:30 - 11am in Rocklin at the Starbucks

    https://goo.gl/maps/KmA4xBnYP3n4x1uF8

We'll leave at around 11am and plan to arrive around noon to China Wall.

From there we'll park and have lunch, explore around and cut down a tree.

For those wanting to explore, the road converts to snow park just past the parking lot and eventually a dirt road too, so we'll head out and check out some the area depending on time folks want to spend.

For those wanting to camp, there are sites in the area and weather is fairly warm.  You can also disperse camp as long as there are no posted signs stating otherwise in the US Forest Land.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    • 2 New Episodes up TODAY!! And not just any set of episodes! We have the Timm Cast episodes which mean we pick Timm Coopers brain and talk about all kinds of rover stuff. Jeff a Rogers also joins myself and Gus and we chat about his upcoming series 1 build. Very interesting stuff. Listen to it twice. Too much to absorb in one sitting.

      Very nicely done!!
