Flashing back to taking Greg and Jaimy on their first drives through Slick Rock in 2017. This is Greg driving up the staircase in his old D1. Back when this was the toughest obstacle on the trail.
Jaimy did a great job getting through the trail with open diffs.

Hi Rupert,
We've tried organizing it but ran into forest fires a couple of years in a row and the Rovicon ends up being the second weekend in August as that's when we can get a reservation for Rubicon springs.
We'd love to get it going again, feel free to plan it out!! Lot's of newer members with Rovers that would really enjoy it I believe!!

I have a set of C5 Corvette manifolds that are supposed to be narrower...I'll add them on see what it looks like. Or yeah, I'll be running the hooker headers.
Funny enough about flipping the manifolds...Greg Forbyn did that and some Turbos 😆
Anyone is welcome to stop by....we can swim and have a beer!

Had some help this past weekend, was great to catch up with Matt Klemin for little bit and get his help bolting the engine in place.
I fixed my bent mount, bolted down the bushing and then temporarily bolted the engine in.
Still more work on lining up the trans and transfercase but we're getting there.

Finally got around to putting my engine back together. Replaced the oil pump, water pump, and timing chain & sprockets. Also added an oil pressure and water temp gauge. The gauges were surprisingly easy to do. The water temp gauge just went on the top radiator hose. The oil presto sensor when on the timing chain cover in one of the plugged ports above the original Land Rover sensor which supports the oil light on the dash. I need to get longer wires, so the gauges are temporarily sitting on the dash but I wanted to keep a close eye on the oil pressure when I first started it up again so I hooked them up in their temporary state. So I need to still do some work, but I am relieved that the engine is running fine and I avoided any major damage with the failed oil pump.
It's the cleanest one will ever see a rover engine!

Not for nothing but that is a hell of a clean working space considering the scope of the work! Keep it going man!
Thanks Brian! I am trying to keep is "clean", but it's a challenge with it being a multi use space.
I do have garage goals like Don...but likely post kids college.

Hi All!
I'm looking for a good Land Rover mechanic for my 2001 Disco ll in Sacramento area. My husband usually fixes all of our Disco's, but he has too many things to juggle right now. We've used British Car Service in the past and have been really happy with them, but they can't get us in until June. The 2001 failed it's smog, so we need to get it in and fixed (I think it needs a new filler tube, but I'm not positive). Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions!!
Alex is great, Tim Scully with Scully off-road and Gene McCaffrey’s in Rocklin plus Diamond Autosport has Gil a Land Rover tech and club member there.
Hopefully those help you…welcome to the club!

Most recent trip visit Tyler and family saw some great progress, the rig is close to making a trip back over the hill to begin the LS install and phase two of build.
All axles are now in place in traditional spring under style. The previous spring over had it too high and worried about additional suspension needs. So in the keep it simple theme we're going to try it spring under. This will provide more stability but does give up on flex(queue the future dreams of links and air struts), so it will use lockers to navigate some obstacles.
Here's a shot of the three tires, need to press on the ball joints then it will be rolling!
Still need to mark the tub for trimming, plan to match the design on the front of the wheel opening to the back.
Lots of torching out the old stuff then grinding up, engine compartment had a big clean up so the mounts for the LS can now go in!
Series trunks make great work benches!
And I brought home the rest of body parts minus rear tub to begin cleaning up for paint.
Ideally we'll link up in March/April and bring it to CA.

Some additional progress made with getting the front axel in place. Had the privilege of riding up and working Jeff Briggs at Tyler's place. Learned a ton from him on the history and nuances of the models.
He did a lot of work on cleaning up the bulk head and then I even brought it home to knock out more more work on it.
Made the modifications to get the hydro boost pedal installed.
Finishing up cleaning the bulkhead with some grinding.

On instagram had a gentleman, Robert, reach out with series parts he's held on to for years even after selling the rover.
In addition to what is pictured here are two rear bench seats for an 88 swb. I passed on those as I won't have a need in my build.
The door tops and rear door are something I may use at some point if I put the hard top on. So now begins the series hoarding obsession.
The grill...so Zach a Rovicon attendee and member has been missing one for a while...LOL, so I may try to get this to him or through it on the garage wall.

Picked up the engine and frame mounts from Forbyn Bros and been working on swapping over the mounts.
These are actually based on D1/RRC/Defender 90/110 rear radius arm frame mount bushings, so I ordered those and they arrived from British Parts Utah in a couple days.
The passenger side mount seen here is longer to push the engine to the driver side to create room for the front drive line.

We can reach out to a couple of members in the SoCal Club, they might have answers...
