Recommended Posts

Hey Everybody!

July MORG is coming up quick! Here are the details as they stand as of now. Can't wait to see ya there.

When: July 9th and 10th

What: July MORG Big Sur

Where: Prewitt Ridhe

  • Meetup Location: Starbucks in Gilroy (6865 Camino Arroyo, Gilroy, CA 95020)
  • Meeting Time: 8:00 AM

Things to know:

  • Easy enough for stock trucks
  • This is a MORG - all Rover owners and all vehicle models are welcome to join! If you have a friend that is a rover-head and wants to get a taste for the NCLR club life this would be a good trip.
  • Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

These are some roads I've always meant to get down and do - sadly this falls on the weekend Theresa and I will be relocating to Nebraska for a few months.

Take good pictures so I can live vicariously ; ).

Wow... at least you're going during the hottest part of California summers.  When do you come back?  I assume you're heading to NE for paternity leave?  How exciting!

I know - I won't miss that part... but I will get the hotted part of Nebraska summers plus humidity! 🤣

Yeah heading back likely until late to mid September. We'll leave as two and come back as three. We are pretty excited  ; ).

We should be back just in time for the Annual Event and Mario's Lost Coast MOrG .

I'm so happy for you!  Can't wait to meet the newest family member.   Lost Coast sounds awesome...I haven't done that in a long time.

Ok folks!

Seeing as Big Sur is almost completely closed AGAIN this year, I want to throw out a few options for other places to go. Sorry, I know its a bit short notice but please vote on the below potential alternative options. I still want to try and make Big Sur happen but I think it is good to have a back up if its just not doable.

Option 1. Hollister Hills - An oldie but goodie

Option 2. Corral Hollow - Tried and true

Option 3. Big Sur - down hwy 1 for the day and potentially camp I'm able to find a good spot

Thanks again!

Mario

Oliver: I should be able to make it and hope to bring the D2 if I can get out of work on the 9th (will go late on the 8th and head out early on the 10th) My dad won't be able to so only 1 vehicle this time

My first choice would be Big sur, and second be Corral Hollow, and unfortunately have been to Hollister quite frequently making it #3

Edit: (Oliver) I got the time off of work and would like to change my #1 to Corral Hollow as I can now do a weekend trip rather than a day trip. I plan on taking Amelia and possibly a friend or 2.

Corral Hollow would be my preference. I’ve been every year in summer, and sometime winter, for the last five years and was hoping to go again in July. The sunsets over the mountains never get old.

Here’s some teasers for anyone who hasn’t been there.

Look close and you will see the campsite in the distance

*TRIP UPDATE*

We will finally be going down to Big Sur!

Unfortunately it won't be Prewitt ridge specifically but I did find a pretty good alternative spot that is easy enough for any stock truck. And don't worry @RobertDingli the sunsets are still pretty great.

Let's still meet at the original Starbucks in Gilroy (6865 Camino Arroyo, Gilroy, CA 95020) at 8:00AM. If anyone wants to meet us in Monterey we can meet at the Chevron in Carmel (3645 Rio Rd, Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA 93923) around 9:30.

Will plan stop and see Mcway Falls, an iconic Big Sur landmark as well as have lunch while we're there. It is a CA state park so don't forget to bring $10 cash. The only other thing to remember to bring is bug spray!

Looking forward to see everyone there!

K. So can you provide a basic itinerary? Where are we camping?

Us SLO folks will be coming up from the South to meet you somewhere...

Since this is a one-nighter, I will probably bring more beer than I need. If I could get a headcount by Thursday (7-July) of next week, I can be sure I bring more than enough.

If there are preferences, this is what should be available:

  • Bo Pils
  • Red Lager
  • Gold IPA
  • Red IPA
  • Oatmeal Stout
  • Belgian Tripel
  • Pre-Prohibition Lager

Cheers,

Paul
