  1. A little late to the trigger but my local buddies and I did a friend's giving run up to the black rock desert in northern nevada. We started up Friday evening and ran out to the hot springs were it was a balmy 19 degrees out so getting in the hot spring was lovely getting out was an exercise in shivering speed. The next morning we made our way through high rock canyon where we ran into some series rover super stars doing a photo shoot. Turns out it was Ike Goss and his buddies and once home Greg proceeded to tell me the guy doing the photos was Nick Dimbleby who I guess does alot of rover and car photography and is the guy who just did the camel trophy book. After spending the day running through the canyon and stopping at all the fun sights we made our way to Steven's camp which is a blm managed cabin that is free to the public we set up camp and blew some holes in old beer cans then proceeded to cook a feast. The next morning we ate a filling breakfast then explored massacre ranch then the town of vya and on our way back down we stopped at the petrified forest for some rocks I can stub my toe on later. In the end it was a good way to waste a weekend, it's a bit of a drive for everyone in Northern California but if there's ever any interest in exploring up there I'd be happy to lead a group around. No promises on a fun trip but a memorable one is an always.

  2. A little bit of theorizing on the Greg rover, which needs an official name soon. Cut a set of plates out to move the rear spring mount rearward and as a result set up a new shackle mount. As with every rover project who knows if this will be the final set up but it's a decent idea so far. Cooper is already measuring up for the front end so he obviously has a better plan then we do but he won't share it yet.20211026_203346_1.thumb.jpg.8361a9d1db872c8327e3633523429e4b.jpg20211026_214602.thumb.jpg.4855b14d358d6cf76b8b2998dee0de31.jpg20211026_203103.thumb.jpg.faaffb11b0bb358c9f4def90e207ad2b.jpg20211026_203050.thumb.jpg.c0a6065f87bf584299f122d44c09fc81.jpg20211026_205353.thumb.jpg.af583a6be05aaf83ff660f442d2fcca1.jpg

  3. Julia and I and my parents plant to be there. We're booked in at moab rim camp park in one of their cabins. As of right now we plan to head out of reno Friday night the 10 and staying in wendover then go to a few attractions for my son in Salt Lake then on to moab by Saturday afternoon. We would definitely like to run trails with everyone before and during the event, my dads just bring his 88 so he'll probably be avoiding alot of the hard core trails but I'm up for any trail out there if I can join with the big boys.
  4. Very excited to go down the rabbit hole with Greg and reach out to anyone with ideas on how to build it better and best. I'm hoping Greg finds all the mistakes and bad ideas so the rest of us can build ours easier. The pictures definitely don't look that great but its all there and anything we should need is hopefully sitting out in my shed of spares. Cooper is jazzed for it as well and has started the process of pulling the old 2.25, the poor kid has no idea how much work is ahead of him.post-1380-0-79612300-1624465958_thumb.jpg
  5. so my dad is turning 70 this year and to celebrate hes throwing a get together at his friend John's place on July 10 to 11. Unfortunately that steps on the July run already planned I told him to change his birthday but I guess he's been celebrating it on the same day since he was born and old people are just stuck in their ways. My dad was one of the first members of the land rover owners association back in the day and the main thing he wanted to do was too see who all from "the old days" is still alive. He has invited all the members from his old club that he is still in contact with.So mainly it will be a few old rover owners camping in a field swapping stories, there is some mild trails in the area but nothing planned out. His friend john owns the salmon creek ranch in Bodega Bay which is where it will be held at. If anyone is interested in coming please let me know. It will mainly just be a chance to catch up with old rover friends and make new ones, thanks post-1380-0-42322200-1623782688_thumb.jpgpost-1380-0-02621000-1623782716_thumb.jpg
  6. Thanks Eric for setting up a blast of a trip. We had a great time unfortunately thanks to my infinite wisdom I didn't bring a memory card for the camara so ill post up the good old phone pictures as soon as I can. My hats off to Ed for some impressive driving his d2 was just as pretty as when he started even running it out on a three wheel peel. Our little 88 has a few more beauty marks but got us home with no issues. It was fun staying up too late drinking beer and talking rovers. I do wish I got a chance to look at Brian's 88 theres definitely alot of inspiration for a future build that with Greg's blessing might be turned into a build thread story, we shall see. Looking forward to the next run and getting to spend time with everyone.
  7. Not exactly a hard core project but when I was a little kid a friend of ours had an Australian built series and it had the Australian land rover badge and I always thought it was the coolest thing ever. Many years later I finally found one and put it in place of the solihull England badge on mine. Yes a purists might vomit at that thought but my whole 88 is a rover abomination so damn the crowd I love it.
