I have been fighting some issues with the truck to get it ready for the trip. There is a chance that I will have to bail at the last minute, in which case, I will make arrangements to get the load to you. If all goes well, I will be picking up the beer on Saturday morning with the goal of joining the South Bay Convoy somewhere on I-80.

- Helles (newest addition to our Lager Series): Will be in very limited supply. I will set aside a few cases for the trip, but if you want it, please order sooner than later. 
- Belgian Tripel (canning in the next 10 days - Super fresh): 8.6% ABV

Seriously, I'll be back in the bay on the 19th, maybe I can squeeze in a tech day to make sure you make this trip.

Not to brag, but I got the ball vents. 
 
But I plan on lots of snacks, food, energy drinks, and Amelia on aux. Well, until I override her. I've got a couple supplies (MAF, GAP tool, basic wrench set, etc) but need to stock up on fluids. My main concern now is stamina.

South bound on 17 in Los Gatos

Finally out in some work on the Buggy Classic. Fixed the 3 transmission leaks it had. The dip stick and the plug were quick and easy. The shifter seal was a major pain. Getting out the old seal took hours due to the frame rail getting in the way and prevented me from using the special shifter seal removal tool. But after a while, it got done. Also got rid of the old shifter and installed a Sidewinder. The old shifter was stock, and it has a Turbo 350 transmission in it. The old shifter wasn’t the right throw and it wasn’t engaging in Park properly. 

So the time has come to deal with the pealing clear coat and abundance of scratches and marks. The 2005 model came with the option for an adriatic blue, which then was discontinued for the 2006 on. As much as I would love to keep the rare color, the paint would be too expensive. I was thinking of wrapping the car either black or a forest green for a more overlander look, but I had an idea! What if I wrapped the roof and top 1-3" white, and the rest green to look like a defender? I know the body style is different and it wouldn't look exactly like one. But would make the car unique . I'm planning on doing this myself to save money, and because I would like to start a new project.  Curious what y'alls thoughts and ideas for this.

We're playing in moab and at the camp we're staying at this guy is as well. I guess he and his wife are the true overlanding style as the started a couple of years ago in South America with a goal of Alaska by the end of the trip. 

Was parked in front of Scarborough in Scotts Valley on Saturday a week ago.
 

@RobertDingli I am planning on bringing the Joolca HOTTAP Nomad and double ensuite, but maybe we both can bring one each to save space and weight?
Also, I plan to bring my new GuzzleH20 since it looks like we will be near water sources.  Happy to refill any and all containers to cut down on the amount of water we might otherwise bring.
Finally, any interest in divvying up cooking meals and/or food consolidation?  I'm happy to cover a dinner and/or breakfast or two.

Been a while since we have been organized enough...
 
But some of us are gathering at Scully Off-Road this evening as there are projects to burn the midnight oil on.

@CRYA in regards to you jumping in on the 27th, we will be in Sumpter, OR the morning of the 27th until 1:00PM. 
If that works for you let me know. The 28th... I think we will pass through Seneca for a fuel stop, but this one is still evolving and the window will be fairly tight. 
Granted, Jeff made it work last year in Primm, NV! : ).

If the trip is on the 20th to the 21st I don't think I can make it. I was planning on the 13th to 14th.

Excellent advice, that I think you first conferred in Moab, so used some of this downtime to finally follow it...

The goal will be to get into camp most nights before dark. Right now for on trail days I think we are managing around 5pm to 6:30pm Mon-Wed.
The final itinerary is coming along... there is a (surprising) amount of history in the area to be uncovered! 
Roughly, the route shown below will be traversed on Monday-Wednesday trail days. This section our club member Gabe pre-ran last year. (Thanks Gabe!) More details to follow!

 

Update to first post above:
We will be running the route from North to South so as to make our return trip home much less painful than the long trek up. With luck, we will hit the CA-OR border.
Below is a rough itinerary as planned so far, as we get a bit closer, the full itinerary will be shared. For folks not starting in the Bay area we will scoop you up along the I-80 corridor.
June 24th, Transit Day 1: Bay Area, CA to Rye Patch, NV June 25th, Transit Day 2: Rye Patch, NV to Dale, OR area  June 26th, Trail Day 1: Dale to Sumpter June 27th, Trail Day 3: Sumpter to Crane Creek June 28th, Trail Day 4: ... June 29th, Trail Day 5: ... June 30th, Trail Day 6 ... July 1st, TBD July 2nd, Transit Day ?: to Home

My work schedule is pretty much clear right now, so I am really hoping I can make this. I will literally becoming off the second half of Section 5 of the ORBDR (June 10-18), the part we didn't have time to do last year. Taking a different pace on the same route and learning the history and sights of the region would be a whole new experience.
And BTW, my LR4 now has KO2's hahaha (my LR3 has had them forever and they've been great performers; my spare is still brand new after more than 2.5 years and 55K miles).
