Phil. got a reaction from El Chapomint in Is this the end?
I fear I may have to say goodbye to my Range Rover Sport with the growing number of problems becoming increasingly cost prohibitive to maintain.
    Basics
2006 RRS 242k original miles NCLR014 many offroad miles mostly with this club. Regrettably ditched the air suspension for coils years ago cuz it woulda cost double to keep air suspension. Showing its age
Since January, I'd been back to Cerrone's 3 times with engine faults. Codes would show a misfire - each time on a different cylinder. Each time they'd replace ignition coils under warranty no problem except last week, this was Tyler's observations
Misfire is gone however the vehicle drives extremely poorly. Has a violent surge coming the the transmission mostly likely the Torque converter failing. Also has a very loud Drivetrain noise coming from either the transfer case or one of the Differentials or both. Vehicle also blew a bunch of smoke when we started the car after letting it site in the morning meaning it is most likely burning some oil as well. Vehicle has very high mileage with as bas as the transmission and that noise is I am not sure how much longer it is going to drive like that before having an issue
I knew the torque converter was a ticking time bomb, but the undiagnosed transfer case/diff noise and smoke is new. Repairing any of these alone exceed 2x/3x the vehicle's value 😭 I'd hate to part it out, but there are some usable goodies/unobtainium on there.

Welp, since I am scheduling myself to "work" the Taproom on a weekend, I might as well have some fun!
East Brother Beer Co is having a vendor day. We will have about 6 vendors (arts n crafts n such) setup, as well as 2 food trucks - Cambodian Food and a Smashburger... Obviously, there will be beer available, and I will have a special club discount on beers for the day.
Tap List - subject to change
    - The Core Beers: Bo Pils, Red Lager, Blonde Ale, Gold IPA, Red IPA, Oatmeal Stout
    - Seasonal Specialities: Belgian Tripel, Maibock
    - Taproom Only: German Pilsner, English Pale Ale, something in the beer engine (cask ale)
Time: Let's shoot for lunch, noon - 4p.
Other: The club has some new t-shirts and the two boxes have been sitting in front of my desk for a few weeks. Rumor has it that all current members will be getting a new shirt, but I will let the Board confirm that!
I'll hit up some of the regulars with Rovers to attend. I am also toying with the idea of a Parking Lot Party for us for the day if there are enough committed interest. We have a somewhat hidden area that we could park the rigs and admire with beers in hand. the downsides are: food trucks and vendors will be a walk, and I may need to limit the tap list (considering setting up the Tap Wagon or can pours in the "secret" area. Otherwise, I can reserve a few tables/area for us.
The secret area also has a forklift ramp, that we possibly could do some flexin' for the grams. Or just rollout the forklift...
Where: 1001 Canal Blvd, Richmond, CA 94804
    - if we post up in the Taproom Unit C-2
    - if we circle the wagons, Unit B

    Cheers,
    Paul

    <UPDATED April 1 st>
Deleted plans to head to SCARR in Texas since there was only interest in heading to Moab on this trip.

    Participants:
    1. Myself D2
    2. Michael and Leanne Foster D90
    3. Jeff Brown L405
    4. Sasha Sher D2
    5. Kevin Yankton (heading over from Salt Lake City) D2
Please let me know directly if you are not on this list and want to join

The plan is to stay for 5 nights (April 4 to 9th) proving four full days of adventure in and around Moab.  There will still be 1.5 - 2 days of driving to get there and then back again to the Bay Area.

We will do a combination of easy and tough trails. We will have room for passengers who have less capable vehicles for the tougher trails.

We have individual bookings at Sun Outdoors Campground (555 South Main St, Moab (435)259-6848).  This campground is offering a 33% discount right now if you ask.  They do have cabins (communal toilet and shower block) although I was told that I secured the last one. I would be happy to share my cabin with anyone.

Some of the details regarding detailed planning are being discussed on a separate WhatsApp chat. Again, please let me know if you are planning on joining.

Miles, Henry and Theresa will be doing a separate trip to Texas as detailed below

Phil. reacted to lithium1330 in October MORG: Signal Peak Day Trip/Overnight Oct. 7-8
This was prob one of the more memorable MORG for me. Fantastic company, fun trails and explored trails and the area on a relaxing pace.
Thanks to Sacha & Mike for leading the trails for this trip.
Special thanks to all the doggies for keeping the bears 🐻 away while we slept!
We spent part of Saturday running Signal Peak in reverse. The Saturday afternoon was spent exploring near by trails. We came across a really nice campsite right on a slow moving river (water temp was 55°F). It has 2 big fire pits and a big serving/prep table! We hung out there for prob an hour. Eric, Mike, Sacha and the doggies went a dig and a swim in the river. We also had no less than 3 water crossings.
On Sunday morning, we relaxed by the camp fire and didn’t leave camp until about 11. We worked our way through a trail toward I-80, As we were airing up at a pull off, a person rolled up in an ATV and asked if we’re ok and that we’re on private property. It was only then did we noticed the private property- no trespassing sign on a telephone pole in front of where we stopped. Evidently,  we unknowingly drove through some private property. The property wasn’t marked (as far as i can tell) on the trial and none of us noticed it on the various maps we were using. At least not until the guy on the atv showed it to Mike. Now we know, and knowing is half the battle!

    Participants:
    - Eric, Merlyn, Sierra & Toby in their overlanding RRC with RRC trailer
    - Sacha & Belka in their LR3
    - Leigh Ann & Mike in their Defender 110
    - Gabriel in his RRC
    - Cris (me) in a Defender 90

Before we were NCLR, a bunch of us were regulars on the now retired LRRForums when someone (Jarrell?) posted LR Redwood City's customer event in Hollister. Since we got along in the forums and in person, someone said hey let's start a club and the rest is history. January 2007.

Took her on Mojave Road and she did great though I blew a sidewall on the 'offroad' tires. Upgraded her with a Front Runner rack, Overland Pros Anza 2000 roof top tent and Overland Pros Wraptor 4K full freestanding awning.

I was going to wait for a diesel, but JLR won't be bringing any stateside soon, if ever. So I started my search and found the truck I wanted. Eiger grey, P300, both offroad packs, tow pack, heated seats, no sunroof. Everything I wanted and nothing more. Rover Rocklin shipped it up from Walnut Creek.

Super crowded today so good thing you guys avoided it. I did more recovery than wheeling today.

#1 - Lead Chevy Tahoe gets caught up on a twisty decline with a steep drop off and a perpendicular trail with another drop off at the end.
#2 - Tacoma burns up his clutch then traction control and CEL protests in response
#3 - On my way out, since I didn't get much wheeling in, I decided to swing by the new obstacle course then the ravine at the bottom of Truck Hill when two kids in a Dodge Ram have their axle stuck in a rut about 1/4 way headed downward.

Third times a charm so I didn't tempt fate and headed home right away LOL
