Mr.BlueSky reacted to lschwarcz in Finally found my RR!
Hi Everyone,
I've been a member for a little while but I just this past week found my Range Rover. I had been looking specifically for a 2009 Range Rover (L322) Supercharged or, better yet, Autobiography. I guess over half a year of checking websites multiple times a day finally paid off!
After searching 49 separate used car websites many times every day I saw the ad for a 2009 Autobiography about 10am this past Wed, by 4pm I was landing in Scottsdale, AZ and was at the dealership an hour later and driving the car off of the lot by 7:30pm. Spent the night there and drove home on Thurs.
While the car is 11 years old it only has 35K original miles on it! Aside from a few minor niggles it’s in excellent condition.
It has a Bournville exterior with an Ivory interior. I also learned from my neighbor who's from London that the name, "Bournville" is from Bournville, England where Cadbury Chocolate is made. They founded the city even!
Now to find the roof rails, a ball mount of the right size, trailer wiring harness and get the radio/navigation display fixed (the common flickering screen issue).
And now for my first official question for the group.
Any suggestions to integrate either my iPhone or my iPod? For the rare calls I may make and for navigation from my iPhone I'm fine with my Jabra hands free device on the visor. But I'd really like to listen to my music and podcasts through the stereo and be able to control it through the main interface.
I have the iSimple Gateway on my '06 Honda Pilot. While it's not perfect it's good enough. I'll contact them tomorrow to see if they have one for Range Rovers.
And I've seen for $550 I can buy a device to give full Apple CarPlay. But, I'd like to see if there are any other, perhaps less expensive, options.
Thanks everyone!
Larry.
Nov 24, 2020: Updated to correct the interior color. It's Ivory, not Parchment.

Everyone should stay a really long time so I can hopefully make it. I’m moving that day too but only within SF not to Minnesota.

We intend to join with at least one child. I will ask my teenage girls and see what sort of reaction they have to celebrating John’s imminent departure. -
Mr.BlueSky reacted to Mffoster in Quick trip to Death Valley, Nov 7-11
Leigh Anne and I will be heading down from Reno to Death Valley National Park for a quick camping trip after the election. We’ll either be celebrating or planning to die in the desert. Either way, if anyone is interested in coming or meeting up please respond to this post or send a PM. We’ll be in our 110, so will likely try some of the 4wd trails in the park. Would also appreciate any recommendations on specific campgrounds and/or trails to try.

Alright, as most of us know...NCLR club member and secretary John Foster will be moving out of bay area in November. All, most, many, alright.. some of us will miss him dearly. So, we are going to celebrate his move with a send off next Saturday, Nov 7th.
Miles has offered to host this send off party at this new compound in the santa cruz mountains. festivities will start at 11 (come earlier or later)... I think Miles has a grill to cook up some burger and hotdogs. Maybe he can find some chickens from his neighbors...who knows. Here is his address... 24900 Skyland Rd, Los Gatos
Hope to see you there! And especially you, John Foster!

Repaired the busted up Ashcroft Air Locker. Was pretty easy and straightforward once I got the bolts off. Needed to Roberts Milwaukee impact to get them off. The Dewalt wasn’t cutting it.

Had random alarm going off events - especially parked in the afternoon sun. A quick forum search suggested hood sensor micro switch is common failure - ordered one off amazon, 20 min install, and all looking good. Let’s hope that was where the issue was and it is fixed now. -

If I had known guests included the Beastie Boys, I would have made it. Lol.

Mr.BlueSky got a reaction from DHappel in 2020 Meeting of the Members & Q3 Board Meeting (Annual Event News Update)
Members,
This year, 2020, by far has been the most disruptive year I myself can remember in a long time.
The novel Coronavirus, heat waves, massive wildfires have impacted all of us in ways big and small. From disrupting smaller trips like our Monthy Offroad Gatherings to our biggest event of the year the annual.
As I type this fires burn across the state, taking homes, affecting the air quality and leading to National Park closures. The Creek fire currently burns at 10% containment directly in the National Forests we had aimed to host our 2020 Annual.
The board has decided to cancel this year's Annual Event. We did not make this decision lightly.
The Good News
We of course would be doing a disservice if we canceled the event without any alternatives however!
I am pleased to announce - in place of the annual - we will be resurrecting the 2020 Meeting of the Members!
What:
The Meeting of the Members this year will be held at Don's place in Walnut Grove (Thanks Don!). Saturday morning has an optional run to Prairie City to play until retiring back to Don's in the afternoon for BBQ and Rover Games as well as the traditional rover parts swap.
This event will require attendees to BYO-food - Bring your own meats, beverages, and sides. Feel free to bring enough to share - it's a potluck. The Board will provide grills (possible a BBQ trailer) as well as a few kegs.
Additionally, Don has offered folks who wish to camp out Saturday night .
When (Rough Agenda):
October 3rd - 4th
9:00 AM Start at Prairie City [Optional]
12:00 PM [Folks can begin arriving at Don's for the swap meet and BBQ.
Saturday evening: Folks that wish may spend the night
Where:
Don's -
