  1. Well if the forest burns down we know who's a suspect. 🤣
  2. Quick reminder that campfire permits expired on December 31. They're legally required, free, and take 5 minutes to renew/get one. There's a 2 minute video and 10 question easy quiz. I always print it out and throw it in my rig's glove box. https://www.readyforwildfire.org/permits/campfire-permit/
  3. I'm assuming it was posted behind that firewall b/c the annual is a member's only event. I'm posting the link here b/c I assume it will still be accessible to members only (but if that's not the case I can edit this and remove the link -- just let me know if that's the case Miles/Eric/Greg....)
  4. I just found the registration link for this even in the members only section. I plan to come down Friday evening and will stay in camp. Looking fwd to it!
  5. Well, what I did today was kicked myself for being a D2 owner. I'm now shopping for a short block. As luck would have it, the 2018 Western National Land Rover Rally rig is in need of a new engine. Why is that you might ask -- wasn't it a rebuilt engine? Very good questions for which I have no answers. What I do know is that I've got a lot of shop time into a bad engine block (so that's going to be a few grand), have machined heads, and am in need of a short block. Please let me know if you have any leads. . . .
  6. Agreed, very nice write up Eric. Glad your diff didn't go out while you were packing down the snow for everyone to go around the D5, etc.....
  7. I'm planning to go for the day. Because I'm a day tripper, I'd like to roll with the first group (because history suggests we'll be waiting at the 76 for some straggler). By the way, I believe Mike is planning to meet us right before we turn down the short road into the town of washington (because he's coming in on 20 from i80 westbound). The overlook is right before we turn left and go down the hill into the town.
  8. I'm 50/50 for a trip to Bowman. I'd need to be back on the pavement by about 5:30 in the evening so that I can make an obligatory appearance at an xmas party I can't ditch. I'll follow along to see what the plans are so I can assess what time folks will likely hit the trailhead and what time folks will probably make it back to pavement. Sunset is around 4:45 nowadays, so I'm assuming folks will want to be well on the way back out of Bowman by then. By the way, Jaimy and I drove to Loon Lake today. About 2' of snow (maybe 3') at that elevation (6400') at about 3 p.m., with another 3 feet likely on the way. Forecasts suggested Bowman (5500' at lake level) could get a pretty good dump of snow before this system is done.
  9. I've given thought to buying a hot tent one of these days, but the set ups I've looked at are pretty expensive for how often I'd likely use it (over $1k). Did you find something you think was a reasonably priced less than that??
  10. I would like to go -- but am not committing just yet. So if I understand correctly, unlike the WNLRR event there's no event-based group camping such that folks go their separate ways in the evening unless they're linked up like folks are contemplating here? The GARR website currently says: Currently, we are trying to coordinate camping for event participants on the Old Spanish Trail Arena property. We will update the event website as this develops with details. Seems that they've had a couple of years to plan this event so I'm wondering if that's still the case or if they've just thrown in the towel. Whatever this group ends up doing please make room for me -- I need to clear a few things before I 100% commit, but I'd like to join.
  11. I'm pretty sure they're waiting you out -- to either challenge the charge or give up. Google them, check out the BBB, etc., they simply don't do customer service and IMHO you're wasting your time thinking they will begin to care at some point. Just my two cents.
  12. After getting a refund from my credit card company on the first purchased NavTool unit, I gambled and purchased another. The second one worked no problem. Robert pointed out your problem is different from mine.
  13. Don’t waste your time. Challenge it through your credit card company — including their extended warranty coverage. Do not send them more money for a faster exchange. And good luck getting them to allow you to return through and RMA.
