drafdog Posted November 29, 2022 Report Share Posted November 29, 2022 I'm planning on leaving from Merced mid day on Friday (if all goes well) and hope to be at camp a little before sunset if anyone would like to caravan from the central valley (I'm open to leaving at any time on Friday and can meet anywhere along 99). So hopefully we'll be there around 5, a bit of noob question do we need a little sand flag for the car? And do we plan to set up a bit of a base camp on Saturday? We will have a base camp on the beach unless it's windy then we might do it inside the dunes but that's where the tents will be. I will have some caution tape to rope off for a little area. As of right now we will be camping at the end of the beach. I was gonna trailer the 88 with the truck but with the snow on the pass on Sunday I'd rather not be dragging that set up in the snow so it'll be handbag lr3 for me. I was just out there a week or so ago with the film shoot with a stock range Rover and I was bombing it no problem The dunes are really packed right now. Some questions: -Do we need to bring firewood or is this disallowed? -I have ordered flags for our vehicles, what is the best way to mount them on an LR3? -Can we set up camp with awnings and tables and leave them for the day or do we need to pack up while we explore? -Anything extra we need to bring since rain is forecasted for the weekend? Super bummed, but Henry caught a bit of a cold and we don't want to add that + rain. I think out of of everyone Henry is the most upset. Even now he glares at me from inside his bundle of blankets...
