Bribed my oncologist to agree to a hemlock hiatus and to clear me for the trip so I'm good to go.  Stoked is an understatement.

I have the Joolca Nomad kit that fits into the sink bucket for dishes etc., plus ~100 ft of hoses to reach those pesky guzzlers Miles was on about for Mojave.  Happy to bring that, the double ensuite, both or neither as the case may be.

Also just got a Nomad grill & smoker and broke her in last night and she rules.  Enough space to que up a feast and can run multiple shifts.

@Draftdog I'm bringing the Dometic 75 dual zone, two VASST 18L water tanks and one or two 4G gas Rotopax, and as per previous, the Guzzle H20.  Happy to share/divvy up cooking, whatever works.

I'm currently planning the meals for my group. We have 4 people (Me, Mark, Cassidy, and Amelia) with a total of 27 meals to be made. This is including travel days. I'm definitely down to coordinate meals, and storage stuff. I have 10 gallons of gas, and up to 20 gallons of water. We could definitely cut down on water storage if we are able to fill up the water. I can share our plan through google docs/text. Or possibly a google sheets with multiple people. You can reach me @ 650 918 9823 for more details.

Comfortable clothes/shoes and breathable underwear 😉👌🏼

Not to brag, but I got the ball vents.

But I plan on lots of snacks, food, energy drinks, and Amelia on aux. Well, until I override her. I've got a couple supplies (MAF, GAP tool, basic wrench set, etc) but need to stock up on fluids. My main concern now is stamina.

I'd go with 3M wrap. from my YouTube learning sessions, it is easier to work with than the cheap stuff.

    - remove as much trim as possible. you can hide seams under vehicle trim.

    - With the LR3/4, there really is only one area that would need a seam, the rear cargo window area/along the roof line above the doors.  it is mostly a flat surface without too many compound curves/bodylines. the bumpers will be the challenge.

    - the dry application method will last the longest and the wet application method is more forgiving.

    - as it dries, you will need to squeegee the wrap again to get some bubbles out.

    - make sure the work area is within the temperature range. I tried mine when it was on the cool side and the wrap was brittle and easy to tear.

Cannot wait to see the result...

Ah that's where the problems start for me. I don't have any control over the temperature. I don't have a garage big enough so I'm working on the driveway. Plus I work from 2pm-10pm and travel often. Likely going to do it section by section. Happy to post the adventure of it.

I might have a picture that I photoshoped the roof white, years ago..

Go for it! Go for your vision - the only thing I'd pay attention too is to plan your wrap seams.

We used to wrap the Formula SAE trailer every couple years at University and one of the things we found worked well was to start from the bottom up.

Then the next layer needs to overlap the first by 10-20mm (think shingles / roofing underlayment layout) to ensure you don't get water egress - this quickly destroys a DIY wrap.

the other tip - practice! Go get a contoured panel free off craigslist or pick-n-pull and play around.

I plan on practicing on the hood as its already peeling, and there's 0 room for more car parts :( . Already have to get rid of the D2 parts. I don't mind having the patched look for a while. That is until the Oregon where it would stick out like a sore thumb in photos.

    What wrap do you use/recommend?

  6. So the time has come to deal with the pealing clear coat and abundance of scratches and marks. The 2005 model came with the option for an adriatic blue, which then was discontinued for the 2006 on. As much as I would love to keep the rare color, the paint would be too expensive. I was thinking of wrapping the car either black or a forest green for a more overlander look, but I had an idea! What if I wrapped the roof and top 1-3" white, and the rest green to look like a defender? I know the body style is different and it wouldn't look exactly like one. But would make the car unique . I'm planning on doing this myself to save money, and because I would like to start a new project. :) Curious what y'alls thoughts and ideas for this.

    OK...

So I checked in on road conditions...I'm sad to say as of the May 4th corral hollow will be closed until at least the 31st.

We will be trying to make the run up to Poker Flat (it's also a ghost town 👻). This trail is a little further for anyone who plans do make it a day trip (at least from the bay).

Lets plan to meet at the Rite-Aid in Grass Valley at 10:00

    https://goo.gl/maps/acPv2nBdZZP439EQA?coh=178572&entry=tt

There are 2 routes to get up to Poker Flat depending on the conditions, so get ready for an adventure!

Weather will be sunny with temps in the 60's to 70's during the day and dipping down in to the 40's at night. Don't forget your wooly jumpers!

I'll plan to put a corral hollow run on the calendar for later this summer when its open, don't worry.

Is this only a day trip? Will anyone be camping? Being 3-5 hours from the bay, I'd need to camp Friday and Saturday night. So if anyone would like to camp with us let me know! Unfortunately still up in the air about attending.

  8. Should be interesting with weather. Shows to be raining now and warm up over the next few weeks, but far out weather reports tend to be inaccurate and more of a guess. Shaver Lake got a mix of rain and snow these past few days totaling 2". That itself isn't much, but considering's its May and suppose to be in the 30's and 40's for the next week. Was hoping to go camping this weekend but left my snow gear back home :(. Yosemite closed Hwy 140 until June/July due to weather. Pinecrest and Dodge Ridge (similar elevation and a ridge over) got some snow and rain totaling 2" so I'm guessing the river along the trail will be rather high. Now this is is 16 days before the trip, but figured would be worth looking at.

  9. I'm in! As usual will see if Mark will go but I wouldn't bet on it. I was up by Pinecrest Wednesday and Sunday with 0 snow on the roads or side of the road 7,000 feet. I saw a lot of snow melting in shady lots. With it being a ridge over I'm guessing it shouldn't be terrible. On the other hand Dodge Ridge (8,200) still had at least 8 feet at the base and maybe 30 feet at the top.
