  1. I might be up for that. Haven’t been to either of these trails, but they seem to be doable in LR# I plan to come if I put my rig back together: redoing most of the rear suspension and accomplished much less over the weekend than planned (life intervened).
  2. I'll need at least one seat if I make it to the MORG. Children and dogs make it more fun!
  3. Oh, another thing: make sure you have a saw handy. We cleared up some saplings that were leaning onto the trail, but there are likely more on the part that we never got to.
  4. We didn't get to the Peak unfortunately. We stopped on Saturday because of the snow and then drove home. Some people stayed through the night and drove home Sunday morning. I believe that LR3/4 can make it to the top if there is no snow and if it is not soaking wet. Even if it is wet, you should be able to get up with some winching. If it is dry, it should be fine. I've heard that starting from Cisco grove should make it easier, but less fun πŸ™‚ I'd love to do the trail in a dryer weather.
  5. Don’t know what you are talking about: this photo is awesome 😎
  6. Wish I could have stayed for this! Any pictures of the crossing?
  7. I’ve uploaded what I had. The camping was great. We ended up all going to Signal peak next morning. The beginning of the trail was nice. The video I uploaded shows Don getting through the first obstacle he mentioned in the podcast and then spotting me through it. After that things started to get more interesting due to the overall muddiness (if that’s a word) of the trail. We got to a field with wet snow and seeing that we will likely have more and more traction problems, turned around. Had lunch on a sunny spot off the trail and headed back to camp. Robert, Jason, Goose, Mike, and Andrew stayed for another night. Did they have more adventures? We won’t know unless they tell us. My dog was completely pooped and slept all Sunday after the trip. I enjoyed the trip, but have to come back when it’s not so wet and get to the top.
  8. This looks doable! I’ll plan to be there unless I break the car trying to make it better in the meantime πŸ™‚
  9. I tentatively plan to come. Will need a ride along the trail, but hope to make it to the campsite.
  10. Will do later today when I'm off duty. Aside from Robert, Andrew also said that he will camp. I don't know if he plans to camp Friday and/or Saturday.
  11. I plan to get there on Friday and camp.
  12. I have an extra coil now too. This of course means that it will not be the problem next time
  13. I also could not find any info on the event itself. It would be great if someone could send a good link or just explain briefly what will happen at the rally. If it were closer, I would just go and find out, but given the travel time it would be great to know more.
  14. I will come! Signal Peak for me. I plan to drive in Friday night and find a camping spot. Will drive back after the trail is done on Saturday.
  15. I finally put out the fires that started while I was on the trip and got around to uploading photos/videos and posting my β€œdebriefing” thoughts. I enjoyed the trip immensely. I enjoyed interactions with the everyone on the trip, the opportunity to explore and learn new things, and last, but not the least, driving a capable car through a beautiful terrain. All of this was possible THANKS TO (in no particular order): EVERYONE being such great companions. I do not remember when I felt so comfortable within a seemingly disparate group of people with different background, occupations, and views. This is priceless! Miles and Johann test driving the route before leading everyone on this great adventure. Miles sharing his knowledge about the history of the place, and most importantly, liberally spreading his highly contagious enthusiasm for it. Will providing his five star shower facility. Jeff being such a great company, making eggs and bacon for the β€œlast” breakfast, and driving me for 3 hours to Barstow and back to get the ignition coil. One of the few things we agreed on in terms of public policy was the harsher punishment for auto parts store clerks that sell you a wrong part. Miles and Andrew sticking with me on a slow drive to Barstow (me driving on 7 out of 8 cylinders), where I finally got the correct coil. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” I uploaded photos and videos to the google photos. The photos are mostly similar to the better versions taken by people who know how to do it better, although look for the apple cobbler sharing the shot with Miles. The videos from the mines might be interesting to those who chose not to crawl in. I showed them to my kids and was told that (1) β€œYou are all crazy to have gone into the mines”; (2) β€œYou have to take us with you the next time you go”. Thank you all for the wonderful trip and hope to do this again. In the meantime, hope to see you at whatever next outing I can come to.
  16. I will try to be there tomorrow morning, but if you don't see me at 7:45am, proceed to accelerate away from the Starbucks. I'll either catch up on the way, or get to Needles by myself.
  17. Scout camping is cool, especially with archery! I did BSA snow camping with my kids last weekend at Hi-Sierra camp. So we had a chance to test our sleeping gear close to 10F. Now we should be ready for Bowman. Looks like it will not be warm.
  18. I plan to drive up to Auburn Saturday morning with my son if everything works out the way I want
  19. I wonder if it makes sense for me to try to join your morning caravan (if it is still happening) after crossing SC mountains. Would be more fun than driving alone.
  20. I plan to drive in on Saturday morning. When do we move out from the camp to the trail? I'm trying to understand how early do I need to start driving from home.
  21. I would love to do another run on Sunday, if it is reasonably short. It looks like I will need to head back Sunday night...
