  1. I wouldn't plan for Sunday more then likely my folks and I will just be cleaning up for the day and saying good byes
  2. You are all welcome to go they cleared their camp field for us so there will be plenty of tent room, there will porta potties and my parents are trying to organize just some sandwich platters for a lunch if we get a solid head count.
  3. so my dad is turning 70 this year and to celebrate hes throwing a get together at his friend John's place on July 10 to 11. Unfortunately that steps on the July run already planned I told him to change his birthday but I guess he's been celebrating it on the same day since he was born and old people are just stuck in their ways. My dad was one of the first members of the land rover owners association back in the day and the main thing he wanted to do was too see who all from "the old days" is still alive. He has invited all the members from his old club that he is still in contact with.So mainly it will be a few old rover owners camping in a field swapping stories, there is some mild trails in the area but nothing planned out. His friend john owns the salmon creek ranch in Bodega Bay which is where it will be held at. If anyone is interested in coming please let me know. It will mainly just be a chance to catch up with old rover friends and make new ones, thanks
  4. Thanks Eric for setting up a blast of a trip. We had a great time unfortunately thanks to my infinite wisdom I didn't bring a memory card for the camara so ill post up the good old phone pictures as soon as I can. My hats off to Ed for some impressive driving his d2 was just as pretty as when he started even running it out on a three wheel peel. Our little 88 has a few more beauty marks but got us home with no issues. It was fun staying up too late drinking beer and talking rovers. I do wish I got a chance to look at Brian's 88 theres definitely alot of inspiration for a future build that with Greg's blessing might be turned into a build thread story, we shall see. Looking forward to the next run and getting to spend time with everyone.
  5. Well be in auburn tonight as well im gonna carry 5 gal gas can in my trailer so when up at camp if fuel gets desperate anyone is welcome to it.
  6. Not exactly a hard core project but when I was a little kid a friend of ours had an Australian built series and it had the Australian land rover badge and I always thought it was the coolest thing ever. Many years later I finally found one and put it in place of the solihull England badge on mine. Yes a purists might vomit at that thought but my whole 88 is a rover abomination so damn the crowd I love it.
  7. we just reserved our camp spot at moab rim, we should be there Saturday the 11th. Not fully set in stone to stay there but I didn't want to not have some option so I figured I'd stick my name on it. Definitely getting excited for this event moab has to be one of my most favorite places to wheel I can't wait to play there with everyone.
  8. Slowly getting prepped to make this run, we've never been on this trail so I won't lie iv got all sorts of new trail butterflies but I'm definitely excited. Hopefully I don't become to trail problem that needs to be strapped out but ill bring extra beer for the gentleman who does pull me out should it go sour.
  9. I got inspired at rovicon and decided I wanted the raised bumper ends like nicks new to him 109 but turns out id have to sell my kid to afford the pangolin one. So I started cutting up mine and fabbing one and it turns out it took 4 beers to do the driver side and an additional 4 to mabey more to do the passenger so just don't look to hard at that side.
  10. Were super excited to run it again with the club. We're all signed up and can't wait to be out on the rubicon with all my rover buddies, now I just need to make sure the rover works then.
  11. Looks like a wicked fun trip I wish we could have gone we will definitely be gunning for the next big trip.
  12. We spent the day getting closer to the finish line on the motor swap on my dads 109 ambulance and we fitted the pto winch. Turns out if your running military air lift bumpers you have to modify the winch mount alot. Then we turned our wrenches on my new to me 88, it hasn't ran since 1989 but with a little love we got it fired off and surprised it runs pretty well and doesn't smoke so mabey its a keeper after all. My driveway is starting to get a bit hectic now but their like my children I can't sleep well at night if they are parked to far away.
  13. Managed to get this little guy to follow me home on the trailer. Julia's at work so now I just need to figure out how to hide it from her and convince her its a good investment.
  14. I'm just gonna say it camping after about the age of 22 is way harder, at least the life coordination of it is.
  15. Not to go off topic because I love to talk about the next generation and the need for land rovers, but unfortunately our good friends grandmother passed away last week and they are headed to the funeral this weekend which unfortunately for us leaves us house/animal sitting. So we will miss out on another adventure with everyone im jealous and with any luck won't miss the next one.
  16. I can second this thought, another skill to add to the list is on the spot resourcefulness. When I was 16 I was in the boy scouts but due to work I had to meet my troop at camp late Friday night and on the way my 88 decided it would be the perfect moment to not know how to idle and to make the starter give up. So there I was at the gas station in my boy scout uniform having to put a rock on the gas pedal so it would run then crank start the truck and run around and pull the rock off the gas so it wouldn't blow up while then climbing in and feathering the gas so it wouldn't die. You never get the chance to learn such skills when in a Toyota.
  17. Just for my curiosity would the route be from auburn to east 80 to highway 20 exit then up? And if so what kind of speed would we be encouraged to be able to maintain on the freeway. Thanks
  18. As long as work doesn't bend me over ill be there not too sure if my better half Julia can get the time off so it might be a man's trip for me.
  19. Were definitely hoping to make it over the hill for this,I know snow changes everything but how tuff are the trails? The reason I ask is its about 7 hours from home for us so that's about 8 days in a series but if our classic or lr3 can handle it that will be alot nicer drive. Thanks
  20. Started the fun process of the range rover classic heater blower. This is not a job I would wish on the devil himself. The range rover may be a marvel of engineering but the heater box was definitely built on a Friday before a 3 day weekend.
  21. Way back in my high school days, it was a cold wet winter and my heater didn't work but still more fun then should be legal to have.
  22. if were up there early as well and you dont mind we would love to join you on a couple pre runs, i promise to try and not be too big a pain on the trail.
  23. The other place we were gonna look into was moab rim camp park. We have stayed there alot, just about every time we go to moab, they have nice tent spots and showers and are dog/working on your broken truck friendly. As it gets closer if anyone wants to coordinate some sort of togetherness were in for sure. Plus if anyone wants to do some more primitive camping in the area were up for that as well honestly any time spent in moab is time well spent.
  24. Julia and I are still signed up as well i think we are planning to get to moab on the 11th and roll home on the 19th. Still not exactly sure where we are gonna stay but we talked about renting a house for the week so if we do im sure there is room for others to stay with us and I think my folks are planning to head there too.
