  1. All in all I have to say a very good run and credit where it's due my hats off to Gustav for leading us through and being the bar tender. Aside from a rock reaching out and unlocking my hub by some magic trick. We didn't have any break downs or issues. Traffic through the trail was light which let us have a fantastic lunch at alpine lake. Then at camp we got lazy at the river with adult beverages and rover building dreams. A fun run with fun people and sorry to everyone who had to eat with my dog wanting to be uncomfortably close.
  2. Well official screw ball of the trip award needs to go to me because I took dozens of what I'm sure were national geographic level photos but happened to not put a memory card in the camera. So I got exactly 1 picture from the trip when I went through a sand storm on the way home. For your viewing pleasure is some dust and my spare tire.
  3. Very cool no surprise you guys made it without any drama makes me wonder if you two were the first rovers through it for the 2022 year. That and many other random questions are what plague my mind a 2am. I can't wait to see pictures and stories from the trip wish I could have gone with you two.
  4. I am woefully unprepared but hell or high water we'll be there. I should be off around 6 and probably to camp around 9 so if you hear some poor soul lost in the woods come find me please.
  5. Here's another from pre nclr membership back when I was the young and dumb age of 16 on a snow day
  6. So I should have an open seat for the trail. I'll have my kid and dog with me so if that makes a difference to anyone looking for a seat.
  7. I'm made good use of my club membership so far this year and missed every event so my summers resolution is to stop that. So I'm planning to make this one I probably won't make it up till Friday evening but depending on Julia's work schedule I may have an open seat. Once she finds out for certain I'll post if it's open or not. Its an extremely uncomfortable ride but we can get some pith helmets and have the uncomfortable safari look.
  8. My hell work schedule means no week day fun for me. but I will be hading in the weekend before then so if you see me half way through the trail please let me hitch a ride out because that means something went not so well. And cantina for the con is that weekend as well but by Monday I think most of the riff raff will be on the other end of the trail.
  9. Looks like a great time sad I missed out. And I'm starting to think an Eric fishing tradition is burying the truck to the frame.
  10. I was really hoping to make it out there but work is once again being inconvenient as usual. I want to see pictures of the Tahoe stuck like your d2 at hell hole last year.
  11. I'm heart broken to say but Julia and I had some soar throats yesterday so on the side of caution we took the big test and unfortunately the Mattson family is part of the numbers now. So rather then causing the super spread we will have to miss this one. We're definitely bummed as can be and will probably go camp in the back yard with all of Coopers toy rovers and pretend we're up there. I wish we could go but I hope everyone has a great trip and get stuck a couple of times for me.
  12. I cried, kicked, and screamed and therefore should have this weekend off from work so baring any tragedy julia myself and our rug rat should be there.
  13. A little late to the trigger but my local buddies and I did a friend's giving run up to the black rock desert in northern nevada. We started up Friday evening and ran out to the hot springs were it was a balmy 19 degrees out so getting in the hot spring was lovely getting out was an exercise in shivering speed. The next morning we made our way through high rock canyon where we ran into some series rover super stars doing a photo shoot. Turns out it was Ike Goss and his buddies and once home Greg proceeded to tell me the guy doing the photos was Nick Dimbleby who I guess does alot of rover and car photography and is the guy who just did the camel trophy book. After spending the day running through the canyon and stopping at all the fun sights we made our way to Steven's camp which is a blm managed cabin that is free to the public we set up camp and blew some holes in old beer cans then proceeded to cook a feast. The next morning we ate a filling breakfast then explored massacre ranch then the town of vya and on our way back down we stopped at the petrified forest for some rocks I can stub my toe on later. In the end it was a good way to waste a weekend, it's a bit of a drive for everyone in Northern California but if there's ever any interest in exploring up there I'd be happy to lead a group around. No promises on a fun trip but a memorable one is an always.
  14. This is a fun read I'm sad I missed out on going it looks like a killer fun trip. It makes me want to build a model t compressor cart just to hear the noises and see how well it would work.
  15. Looks like alot fun I wish we could have made it but good ol work can be a real ass. I figure it's time to quit or tell the boss to pound sand so we won't miss the next one.
  16. Moab prep well underway. Is there gonna be an nclr get together during the week?
  17. If your feeling adventurous just east of Austin is a nice hot spring its right off 50 and easy to get to so it always has people in it but its fun to check itbout
  18. 50 is a blast I think one of the prettiest drives across the desert. Julia and I will be taking it when we head home fuel is a bit scarce between towns but not bad. Stop off at middle gate Station for a beer and some ice cream.
  19. I'm close to wetting myself with excitement, Julia and I took Thursday off so the plan is to head up Thursday mid day and hang out at loon but if we're honest I'll be spending Thursday frantically fixing things trying to leave and get up there Thursday evening. Either way we're exited and can't wait to see everyone.
  20. We're gonna head out of fernley Friday night and stay in wendover then go to salt lake Saturday and take cooper to some sort of kids something then on to moab by Saturday evening
  21. Julia and I and my parents plant to be there. We're booked in at moab rim camp park in one of their cabins. As of right now we plan to head out of reno Friday night the 10 and staying in wendover then go to a few attractions for my son in Salt Lake then on to moab by Saturday afternoon. We would definitely like to run trails with everyone before and during the event, my dads just bring his 88 so he'll probably be avoiding alot of the hard core trails but I'm up for any trail out there if I can join with the big boys.
  22. A little late but better then never, we spent Father's day playing with my dads ambulance and got it out on a test drive around the neighborhood. There's still boat loads to do but it gets the fire going again to finish it up,I supposeit's never really finished though is it.
