  1. Definitely a good listen and makes me want to go on the next annual overland. I'm just not sure any of my rovers can run for that many days without falling to bits.
  2. Mile's needs a day in his honor for planning such an epic journey. I can't wait for the write up and hopefully pod cast.
  3. When rolling through nevada feel free to reach out if anything happens iv got tools parts and heaven forbid a trailer if needed.
  4. My plus 1 is named nick he got going earlier then I so he'll probably beat me there. He's a lesser class so he's un a orange early bronco. We should be done with graduation in about 1 hr so I'm hoping to roll in around 4ish
  5. Cooper graduates preschool Friday morning which means he's already out educated me. So what better way to celebrate then hell hole we should roll in hopefully around 4.
  6. A bunch of NCLR podcasts in the queue to put you in the mood. Or make you sick of land rover talk by the time you get there.
  7. A water crossing gone wrong for my dad back in 1984 while camping in the black rock desert.
  8. The big rule of thumb in my opinion is weight is the enemy. You don't want to hinder your trucks performance or break parts because of the extra weight of your extra parts. It's a fine dancing line that I personally have not yet perfected as I tend to over pack and run to heavy. But coordinating with others like Eric said helps to spread the weight around.
  9. We're playing in moab and at the camp we're staying at this guy is as well. I guess he and his wife are the true overlanding style as the started a couple of years ago in South America with a goal of Alaska by the end of the trip.
  10. My backyard is starting to look like a rover storage lot but they all belong to Julia. And even though I shower her with all these superior orphaned automobiles she still looks upset when I bring one home, I guess I just need to buy more until she's happy.
  11. We reserved camp spot 10 so hopefully we'll make it up late Friday night in either the 88 or the new to me d1.
  12. From a few years back out camping in the nevada desert.
  13. We might bum over for the event I don't think we'll participate because I'm just a natural born Mario Andretti and I just am not sure I can commit to the finals. But a chance to rub shoulders with everyone sounds fun.
  14. I wish we could make this one its just a bit of a haul for a Saturday and we might be trapped on this side of the hill. But take lots of pictures and we can't wait for the next one....and some spring weather.
  15. It's not a dana but is built by carraro which I guess builds alot of heavy equipment axles. So probably very well built but nothing aftermarket I'm assuming.
  16. It might just be me but I'm hoping to make it. That being said if the Sierras are anything like reno it'll be deep in the snowy snow.
  17. Thanks to everyone who put the trip together and to miles, we ended up useing your spot since it was closer to the main camp fire. We had a blast up there playing a mini snow camel trophy with every piece of recovery gear getting used. I'm pretty certain every truck had a winch and every winch was used at some point, be it witching themselves or other vehicles out. Two of those vehicles weren't even in our group but ended up in the stuck fest with us. Iv got a few good pictures to put up one of wich Eric will be very proud of. I'm excited for the recap podcast as well and for bowman now.
  18. Well in an ocean of depressing posts we are loaded and readyish, we're Gina head out tomorrow morning with a long run hopefully getting to camp early afternoon.
  19. Julia Cooper and I will be there Saturday we will have the dogs in tow as well.
  20. We were gonna shack up with Eric but to keep the nclr camp block we would be more then happy to pay for and use your spot. I'm a bit of a sissy so we are gonna trailer our 88 so having an extra spot to leave the tow truck might be handy.
  21. Oh dear the windshield wipers in the 88 don't work I guess that's now priority 1.
  22. Kind of a dumb navadainian question but I assume we're allowed to have a camp fire but do we need a permit?
  23. Sounds like we're late to the show but Julia and I would like to join. We will happily split camp costs if theres room. I'm not sure if we will be in the lr3 or the 88 I suppose it depends ds how miserable we want to be on the drive.
  24. Ok rover gurus I need some knowledge I recently got a new to me d1 and it has rovertyme rear trailing arms that are well worn in. So the bushings are pretty much not there and my question is does anyone know if the rovertyme rear trailing arms use a special bushing or is it just a stock rover. Thanks
