  1. My 13 pound mini dachshund can not keep warm enough and he also makes a great foot warmer in the sleeping bag.

Having a warm sleeping goes far too...I recently upgraded to a bag rated to 0 degrees and its made a huge difference. The other thing that we do is put your clothes for the next day in your bag over night that way they aren't so cold in the morning when you put them on.

We are hoping to join but can only leave after collecting child #3 from school. Child #1 will be visiting from Australia and also plans to join.

Hope to see you there Robert! I will be leaving SF in the evening on friday (around 6pm when I'm off work) if you wanted to hook up somewhere along the way. I plan to take 101 up.

  4. We were finally able to get down to Big Sur and it did not disappoint! We had 12 trucks total, 1 day trip and 11 camping. Big thanks to @SLOHybrid  for getting there early and getting snagging the camp spot for everyone. Another big shout out to @Motobrewer for as always providing amazing beer. The California coast gave us her best, with amazing views and perfect weather. Thanks to everyone who was able to make, we had a good time!

Post up all the photos to the google link below.

    K. So can you provide a basic itinerary? Where are we camping?

Us SLO folks will be coming up from the South to meet you somewhere...

    --Paul

    Paul,

For peeps coming from the south, lets meet at the turn out for Treebones resort off hwy 1 around 12:30/13:00. The plan is to climb up the hill (los burros rd) and camp at the top above the clouds.

  6. *TRIP UPDATE*

We will finally be going down to Big Sur!

Unfortunately it won't be Prewitt ridge specifically but I did find a pretty good alternative spot that is easy enough for any stock truck. And don't worry @RobertDingli the sunsets are still pretty great.

Let's still meet at the original Starbucks in Gilroy (6865 Camino Arroyo, Gilroy, CA 95020) at 8:00AM. If anyone wants to meet us in Monterey we can meet at the Chevron in Carmel (3645 Rio Rd, Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA 93923) around 9:30.

Will plan stop and see Mcway Falls, an iconic Big Sur landmark as well as have lunch while we're there. It is a CA state park so don't forget to bring $10 cash. The only other thing to remember to bring is bug spray!

Looking forward to see everyone there!

  7. Ok folks!

Seeing as Big Sur is almost completely closed AGAIN this year, I want to throw out a few options for other places to go. Sorry, I know its a bit short notice but please vote on the below potential alternative options. I still want to try and make Big Sur happen but I think it is good to have a back up if its just not doable.

Option 1. Hollister Hills - An oldie but goodie

Option 2. Corral Hollow - Tried and true

Option 3. Big Sur - down hwy 1 for the day and potentially camp I'm able to find a good spot

    Thanks again!

    Mario

I just realized most of you guys are camping. Is anyone doing day trip?

i am not very experienced in wheeling and I am not sure if I want to get down on Saturday afternoon by myself 😅

I did the day trip last year in the sport and made it out safely thankfully. It did make for a very long day because we got stuck for hours due to the 4runners.
