The way you guys are talking with all the spare parts you'd think Land Rovers are unreliable.

Gotta drop out of the trip. Too much "life" in the way... This is a Family First decision, not work, thank God.

There was a question about recovery gear. I will have my full compliment including winch, bubba kinetic rope, ARB snatch strap, hydraulic high lift jack, 6T bottle jack and a single jack stand.
I also have four handheld baofengs and have the external aerial on order.  I don’t have a 12V charger but I do have a battery replacement 12V power unit that will work when all the batteries run out.
I don’t know if anyone else is bringing a D2, but I have packed an alternator, starter, most engine bay hoses, engine sensors, fuse box, engine belt, front driveshaft etc
The more I bring, the less I will use. I hope.

@SLOHybrid (and everyone) I am slowly updating the itinerary as new information comes in.
For those traveling separately to the start - please download and print the itinerary. I've added a Page 2 showing the campsites we hope to nab (in order).
I don't expect them to be packed on a Sunday night, but worst case... here is a backup to a backup to a...

    Haha, correct, no chains required.

Just chatted with Miles a bit about my route notes, but expect a slow pace over chunky terrain the last several miles before Hwy 40/Gap Ranch, and a section of Christmas Valley for several miles before the dunes.

I was on LT275/65-18 KO2’s with zero issues, and not aired down. It was just slow going.

Expect some mud on the route, but nothing my 8600lb LR4 couldn’t handle. Only got stuck once in a “dry” lake with about 3” of water then 3” of mud. It was just too slick for my KO2’s at full pressure and at my heavy weight. A quick winch over to Nick’s 110 and Maxtrax got me to firm ground. I was the only one out of the 5 trucks that didn’t make it through without stopping. Got a great foot mud bath for free .

I’m sending Miles my actual track so there’ll be no route surprises between Seneca and Paisley. I’m even throwing in two awesome camp spots that we loved.

    Ask me any questions!

Not to beat a dead horse, however just confirming the flag requirements for Christmas Valley dunes is a whip extending to 9' above the ground with a flag of color either red or orange and with a minimum dimension of 8" x 12".   Not a 9' flag whip.

Safety Flag: When operating an ATV, ORM, or side-by-side on sand or in dune areas—including Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Sand Lake, and Christmas Valley—you must display a red or orange flag that is at least 8 x 12 inches in size. The flag must be displayed 9 feet above the ground on the ORV.

Oh man, I am insanely jealous you guys are about to head out on this!!!
I just got back yesterday evening from completing the second half of the OR BDR (NE corner to south SE corner at the 395).
We did nearly 400 miles from Seneca, OR working our way SW to Hwy 140, heading S/SW through Christmas Valley to Hwy 31 where we hit the mountains again till Paisley, OR. We finished the rest of the section down to the 395 a couple days ago. And so sad it's over.
Please ask me any questions, and I'll put up a few photos. Oregon is my new overlanding mecca, and I've hardly scratched the surface.
There is zero snow along the route unless you're in the northern sections of the cascades, or in the Dismal Swamp to the SE near the California border, and even that is pretty much melted. Expect fun water crossings, some light mud, beautiful forests, etc. It is such a change of scenery to what we're used to here in the California desserts.

Yes it should be, satellite snow reports said no snow back on June 1st. And we are starting more to the East. I don't expect too much snow if any to be found.
They also ran it in mid May. So we've gained some melt time.
I personally don't love the plastiplanks, but I will be brining a improved equivalent. I don't recall the brand off hand, but they are flexible and can attach to the tire so not to jettison 50ft under a snowbank - great for mud, snow, and everything in between.

Alrighty folks - the not-so-rough-draft has been attached here and to the first post.
I'll continue to refine during the week, but this is the plan. I'd plan on expecting the unexpected on this one...
    - Sand flag needed - yes, please obtain a whip and sand flag for this trip. It will be necessary when we cross into the Christmas Valley dunes. This has been added to the minimum vehicle requirement list.
    - Rain, could be
    - Run out of fuel? - Only if you forget your friend Jerry ; ).
    - Trees down? - Johann and I have chainsaws
    - Rivers too high to cross... well then this is gonna be an (alternate) adventure
    - Satellites mis-reading snow levels - recoveries are in order
    - Mosquitos? - Bring 100% Deet
    - Mud, I bet so.

As of right now, we are ending Thursday near Burns area, so by Saturday we should be another good 80-100 miles south. This should put us within striking distance of home in a day (Our Paso Robles friends may find this more painful, but it's the farthest I reasonably expect to get).
IF stars align, we could make it as far as Fariport/Goose Lake on the CA-OR boarder.

I feel like we need to trade off our ranchette for a real ranch so we can have some proper moos. Currently though, it is 96* in Austin, Texas with 58% humidity. I, nor this cow... are fans.

Thus I do not expect to be moving down here anytime soon.

Last year on my home from Rovicon 4, I got misfire on the highway just past Sac. Only last a handful of seconds and didn’t happen again on the way home. I also got it on the way to the Annual, but didn’t experience on trail or on the way home. Didn’t get it any other time until I started the D2 up over the weekend to make sure it ready for this weekend. Since Hell Hole will be hard enough this weekend without engine issues I decided to do a tune up. So I gave myself a short work day yesterday and today to do it. I replaced the the coils, injectors, plugs, and wires. I also installed a coil relocation kit while I had everything torn apart. The job took a while and was kind of a pain in the ass due to lack of room. Removing the secondary air system would have made it a lot easier to get around, but I didn’t want to mess around with that this week. Everything is up and running again. Fingers crossed I don’t get a misfire anymore. I’m pretty sure it was due to the spark plugs.
