  1. Post up for those planning to attend. I'd like to get 3 - 4 trucks to make this trip happen.
  2. There is something weird with the forum post or my account, and it’s somehow pulling posts from years ago. Not sure what happened and unfortunately nothing I could do to change it. 2 different posts by me, and old contents get injected into them.
  3. With the ARB bumper, you need to bolt on or weld on shackle mount. I did the bolt on with back plate on my bumper... There are a few places that sell these. Make sure you mount this close to the frame mount points as possible.
  4. The Refuge opens at noon So, we plan to be there around 11:30-ish
  5. Not sure why the other post got mixed up with something from 2007... So, gonna try again and see if this works better. We are getting together for our monthly Peninsula Drip in the Dirt tomorrow, on Sunday, August 19th. We’ll meet at 11 at the Refuge in Menlo Park, parking in the lot to left of the restaurant. See you there! The Refuge in Menlo Park (not San Carlos) 1143 Crane St, Menlo Park, CA 94025 (650) 319-8197 https://goo.gl/maps/CugQxrJZJCEe4nAR8

  7. Unfortunately for me, work gets in the way of life... i won't make the original dates, and plan to run this on Aug 30 - Sept 1. If someone wants to run on the 16-18th, I'd be happy to share the Gaia map. Thanks for your patience! Same plan, different days... When: August 30 - Sept (Friday to Sunday). 3 days trip - Friday to Sunday. We'll start from Shaver Lake, and through forest roads, make our way south towards Buck Rock Lookout point. If there is enough interest, would consider extending to 4 days. Day 1: Shaver Lake to campsite (30mi). Given the 4hrs+ drive from bay area, this leg to campsite will be short & straight forward. This will gives folks plenty of time to get to campground before dark, set camp and relax a bit. There is a gas station at Shaver Lake, so you can gas up for the weekend here. Most of this section is paved before getting onto forest roads. Along the way, we will drive past the McKinley Grove, and we can stop here for a quick break and wander amongst the giants. After this stop, the forest road will take us to 1st camp at Sawmill Flat CG with 15 campsites. We will make camp here the first night. Day 2: Sawmill Flat to Big Meadow CG (80mi). We will continue south on forest roads. Depending on timing, we can break along the Kings River at Mill Flat CG. We will continue south until we hit RT180 (paved road). We will make a left continuing on RT180 into Sequoia National Park (bring your National Park Pass if you have it). We will stop at the Grant Grove Village (visitor center, convenient shop & restrooms), followed by a stop to see the General Grant Tree. After this stop, we’ll continue north for approx.. 10mi to Hume Lake, where folks can gas up. Then we head south again towards Big Meadow CG area, find a nice patch of dirt and set camp for the evening. Day 3: From Big Meadow CG, we will take a longer route over to Buck Rock lookout. For those up to it, we’ll hike (stairs) up to the look out, chat with the ranger staying there and learn about the area. After this, we can explore the area some more, find a spot for lunch before making the trip back to South Bay (~220 miles/4hrs+)
  8. Work getting in the way with a conference I still need to prepare for. So, I'm going to postpone this event to Aug 30 - Sept 1. This will free up the 17th for BoD meeting.
  9. wel, my wife will not make this trip... but i still retain my hall pass. So, we're off in about 10 days!
  10. OK...I'm locking down the dates for Sequoia National Forest trek: August 16 - 18 (Friday to Sunday). Hope to see you there!
  11. what's the code you're seeing? A number of things could cause mis-firing. Have you ruled out the ignition coil packs? You can try moving the coils and see if the misfire follows the pack or stays with cylinder. Basically, use magic marker and number the coil packs. write down which is misfiring. Then move the packs from 1-2-3-4 to 2-3-4-1 (or whatever). Reset & clear the ODB2 error, drive car and see what comes up. If the misfire follows the coil pack, then you have a bad coil and that's easy to replace. Disclaimer... I don't own a range rover, but i've troubleshoot engine misfires. good luck!
  12. Spotted this in San Ramon during lunch time yesterday. Very clean truck and looks like it's setup for trips. A TD6 with zombie sticker on door.
  13. anyone know who this is? spotted this am on 280N... NCLR stickers, + more stickers... ARB bumper and winch setup.
  14. I haven't used these guys, but couple folks I know with Porsches & BMW's recommend Bascom trim & upholstery. https://www.bascomtrim.com/
  15. I've been thinking of doing an overland trip through the Sequoia NF. There are many trails (easy to moderate in difficulty) and landmarks that make this area fun for everyone. Trip Plan (subject to change - subscribe thread to stay current): When: August 16 - 18 (Friday to Sunday). 3 days trip - Friday to Sunday. We'll start from Shaver Lake, and through forest roads, make our way south towards Buck Rock Lookout point. If there is enough interest, would consider extending to 4 days. And... this makes my 800th post.
  16. $600 for both installed is pretty good deal. esp if local.
  17. just looked up on the map and Lassen is actually not as far as I thought - <4hrs from South Bay... so, I think the long weekend would make this a good trip.
  18. trip info here: http://norcalrovers.org/forum/index.php?/topic/5781-mt-lassen-discovery-trail-trip
  19. Oh man... ya, it's been 2 weeks and really don't have a lot of time left. Hopefully the diff will come back by next wk., then it's just 1/2 day to put the thing back on and hook up the line. I do have to put new radiator hose back on. So, 1 full day of work total. I do wonder if there will still be a bit of snow by end of May. What's the elevation?
  20. Memorial Day weekend should work best. It may be easier for me to take extra day(s) off to get up there early - maximize trail time.
  21. Since my truck is incapacitated with radiator out and no rear diff, I had to work on small, non-trip critical things. So, this weekend I took out the defenders sliding windows to replace the 22 year old felt with refreshed rubber window slide channels. This eliminates window rattles. While I had the windows out, I took the opportunity to tint the windows also. A local tint shop wanted 850 to tint windows on the truck. So, I decided giving it a try myself by buying tint online, and watched a bunch of YT videos. The outcome was pretty good. I certainly wouldn’t pay someone me to tint my car... occasional specks of dust and edges aren’t perfect. But good learning effort. I still have front 2 windows to do... may give that a go in next wkend or so. The most painful part was probably the 24 pop rivers I had to do per side. My arm is still sore from that. 🤣
  22. you have more than 1 truck... so, let family take the RRC.
  23. ok... it's been awfully quiet here... There is no way any Rover ran for almost a month without requiring its owner to do work on it... Today, I changed the oil in the transfer case - good news: oil has been in full for 2 yrs. So, no leaks! Better news - acceptable amount of metal shaving on the magnet. Also changed the front diff oil - fluid was dirty, but not rancid. I did not change the rear diff oil... b/c I'm on the fence about installing rear locker. :-/ Still on the fence as of this writing. Re-tighten down a few radiator hose clamps... finding drips when under pressure. Rad hoses hate me. Bc one end of the top hose still has a very slow drip. Also adjusted the passenger side door stay - door wouldn't stay open, and slams itself close in light breeze on its un-suspecting owner or spouse. My fix... shim it with a piece of ziptie. Yea... that's all it needed. Love the simple mechanical aspects of older trucks.
