  1. Thanks for coming by Paul! Also thanks to Will for making his second appearance on the pod. If anyone else wants to join in, let me know. Recapping an event is always welcomed from guests, but we can go into any rover related topics.
  2. Also, I do have questions prepared for a Rover Feud game, but we do need some additional people to play. Anybody near San Jose around 1:30 is welcome to come hang out and join us. Dm or call/text me at 408-772-8534
  3. Paul will be joining the podcast tomorrow and will be recapping his trip to the AZLRO event. If anyone from the Lost Coast would like to join us and do a recap they would be more than welcome. Mario was originally scheduled, but could not make the trip due to COVID. DM, call, or text me at 408-772-8534
  4. We ended up having a weird technical difficulty. Our podcasting recorder died, or it never woke up. So we have a new machine coming tomorrow via Amazon and are going to to return the old broken machine later. We will reintroduce the concept soon.
  5. We are doing a podcast today. But it isn’t just any podcast. We are going to try a call in segment today. Gustav and I will be doing some normal pod stuff, but at precisely 4:30 we will be opening the phone lines and allow club members to call in. The podcast will be generally focused on winter. That means winter camping, winter wheeling, and winter projects. Call in at 4:30 to 5 if you’d like to chat about that or anything else. The call in number is 408-772-8534
  6. Another clean p38 today. This one is stock, but super clean. How many P38’s can I spot today? I’m trying to snap a pic of all of them today.
  7. Getting some breakfast behind this P38 equipped with sliders and steel frond bumper, sliders, roof rack, and a canine navigator. My kind of rover
  8. Baofeng UV-5R Two Way Radio Dual Band 144-148/420-450Mhz Walkie Talkie 1800mAh Li-ion Battery(Black) https://a.co/d/fLA7XZw pick up one of these. They work great for trails since you don’t need a ton of range.
  9. The Annual Recap pod is out. Will and Sasha join me along with Sasha’s kids to go over the event. We ran out of time to go over the raffle, but we did hit most of the other things. We also got to play a new game for the pod, Rover Feud!! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/nclr-after-dark/id1615586586?i=1000582759412
  10. We will be doing an Annual recap podcast next Saturday. We are looking to have a member who attended the event join us for the recap. So if you were at the event and would join us in San Jose for the recording, DM me.
  11. I’m out, sorry guys. Merlyn isn’t feeling great. A longer than normal gap between dialysis plus a tiring few days has taken its toll.
  12. Capitola Freelander looks at home near the beach
  13. Merlyn and I will be coming home from Monterey on Thursday. We would stop by on the way home if it ends up happening Thursday evening.
  14. Got home around 4:30 today. Another fun Annual event. The trail run was a successful one. No breaks or any mechanical issues. Didn’t hit any traffic on the trail either. We made good time and got to play on several optional obstacles and lines. It’s always fun to watch people challenge themselves and their vehicles. Even though we had plenty of drivers getting out of their comfort zone and trying some hard lines, we didn’t have any obstacle or line win. Every attempt was eventually completed without needing recovery. Looking forward to seeing the pics and vids.
  15. People can organize a run for Sunday while we are there if they are so inclined. We will all be running the same trail, in the same fashion like last year.
  16. Just wanted to go over some last minute info on the trail run Saturday. The plan will be the same as last year, we will be running Bald Mountain. We will plan on leaving camp and heading toward the trail at 10am. Camp (Dinkey Creek Campground) is close to the forest road (Rock Creek Rd) that we need to take to get to the trail, so folks coming up Saturday morning should still meet us at camp. The alternative would be to meet at the intersection of Dinkey Creek Rd and Rock Creek Rd about 10:15-10:30. The trail should eat up most the day but will depend on how many detours we take to challenge ourselves as this trail has a lot of optional stuff. We will be using ham radio frequency 146.460. Any stragglers can catch up to us on trail. The trail should be available on Gaia and all the other electronic map things. I’ll include a pic of the trail. We will be following the route direction in the pic.
  17. 2 New Episodes up TODAY!! And not just any set of episodes! We have the Timm Cast episodes which mean we pick Timm Coopers brain and talk about all kinds of rover stuff. Jeff a Rogers also joins myself and Gus and we chat about his upcoming series 1 build. Very interesting stuff. Listen to it twice. Too much to absorb in one sitting.
  18. That’s a recent patch. Only got those made last year
  19. We have a brand new 48 quart dual zone refrigerator. It’s a rugged design with anti shake and anti shock protection.
  20. New episode is out! Don and Michelle come to the studio and we talk about trails to do before summer is over amongst other rover and semi rover related topics. Like, subscribe, and rate to support our efforts to bring more quality content for our membership
  21. We have one new Lavabox portable propane fire pit for the raffle. Propane fire pits have become a necessity for summer camping in California. It has become automatic to employ fire restrictions on public lands and even many private campgrounds. Bringing a propane fire pit is the answer to the fire restrictions. This fire pit is compact and easy to pack, especially when compared to some of the more traditional circular models. On top of being easy to transport, it produces a large flame and is also nearly silent. Most other fire pits that produce large flames come with a noticeable, and sometimes annoying, hissing sound. After experiencing Andrew’s Lavabox on a camping trip this summer, I became a fan and am happy to see it in the raffle. As the kids would say, it’s FIRE!!
  22. We have a couple of UniJacks for the raffle. I have been proponent of the UniJack for years. I dont think there’s a better tool for lifting a tire off the ground on the trail. It has a wide and stable base that is ideal for trail terrain. It easily adjusts to different heights. It has a lockable jack built into it for safety. It makes tire changes and axle work very quick and simple. Usually makes much more sense than a HiLift for most trail repairs and is much safer than a traditional bottle jack.
