The Rivian did really well. Granted, the most technical bit was the last bit down to the lake. (Sparsely scattered small boulders). 
Really nothing of a challenge at all. The R1T had plenty of ground clearance and almost double that of Snowflake's-diff-to-ground.
Trip from Truckee to White Rock takes about 45-60 minutes depending on how fast you take the washboards. 
We entered from Truckee and exited through Bowman, with the regenerative braking, Dan only consumed 7% of the pack capacity. In contrast, Snowflake sucked down 25% of a tank of fuel. So the Classic was once again more range limited than an EV.

Great trip (except the mosquitoes).  Thanks to Miles for setting this up.  Was great to see out camping Andrew again, looking forward to the Rubicon!

Alrighty! We are packing and getting ready to go!
Managed to get the rear driveshaft changed out last night and the refurbished radiator in (original radiator began leaking again on the way back from Oregon).
Not sure yet if we will manage to get the grill packed yet... : (.
Hopefully we will be hitting the road around 12 noon tomorrow. Later than I had hoped, but c'est la vie

I will be leaving Roseville around 12:30. Perseid meteor shower this weekend and there will be no moon. Plan on getting some pictures of that and the Milky Way.

Sounds like a awesome drive to the lake and it probably won't be very crowded. I should arrive there around noon on Friday. 

Good news everyone! White Rock Lake is Open.
I spoke to a very nice Maggie at the Truckee Ranger Station. She said that it technically isn't closed. They use the website status as a deterrent for less prepared folks that don't have the resources to get there. 
Right now, we should expect deep mudholes, rutted out roads, and possibly some snow. So nothing we haven't tackled before ; ).

Sure hope so, Leigh Anne and I have been waiting for this!  Of course, there are other places close by if needed.

Hey Folks! Sorry, just getting off the plane and headed home - I do plan on having a trip this weekend.
I will confirm with the Forest Service office tomorrow if white rock is accessible - if not, I'll post a back-up plan no later than Wednesday evening.

And by "contingent" I mean we will be joined by a couple guys I hope we can use the MoRG to convert to Rover-hood. Right now, one guy has an older 80s? tacoma and the other a tundra. 
But... if I can get the blackstone setup we should do group tacos! 

Looks like I can make this work. The Pinot Grigio is a couple weeks behind from the mild spring.
Have not been there before and would like to check out the area. Will be bringing the L322.

Hi Eric. I will join if the trip goes ahead. I’d like to stay at either Dinkey Creek or Camp Edison rather than dispersed camping. I won’t have much time to prep as I’m in Europe this week. I can drive up Friday afternoon and camp for two nights. 

I will be there. 

It’s actually a criticism by, you know, the definition of the word. Maybe you should consider contributing actual effort in helping with some of the duties of running the club and maybe even this trip in particular. I just find it such a low and petty move to throw a wet blanket on the successful trip by throwing out criticisms literally the day they put the recap up. Poor taste. Give them a pay on the back for what they did. Save the other crap for later.
