  1. For those that want to do some research on the Mojave Heritage Trail, here is *the* resource. Well, this appears to correlate with Miles' reference info in post 1.

    https://mdhca.org

    - Set of 4 Guides ($100) Individual Sections can be purchased separately: https://mdhca.org/publications/east-mojave-heritage-trail

    - Road Guide ($19.95): https://mdhca.org/publications/mojave-road-guide

There are a couple of Trip Reports listed, Trail supplements, GPX/KML

I am planning on picking up copies of the books. The Section Guides look like they will have more about history, fauna, etc about the route. Might be something to keep passengers entertained.

  2. Here are the vehicle requirements and such from the sign-up page. This will save me a couple of clicks, and once it sells out, I am guessing that it will be hard to find again, and I will need to remind myself of the couple of things that I need to pickup for the event.

About 2022 Annual Roverland Event: EMHT Seg. 1 & 2 (Driver)

    Minimum Vehicle Requirements

    • Mechanically Sound Rover (as best as they are)
    • Working E-Brake/Parking Brake
    • 30" tires including full-size spare
    • Recovery Points front and rear
    • Center Differential Lock (CDL) (or other modern equivalent)

    Minimum Gear Requirements:

    • Enough water for each participant for multiple days
    • Extra Fuel
    • Spare parts and tools
    • Fire Extinguisher
    • First Aid kit

    Recommended Vehicle Requirements and gear:

    • Armor (rear bumpers, diff guards, sliders)
    • Working winch
    • Vehicle Jack and Tire patch kit
    • Shovel

It is very possible to complete this event without damage, however broken axles, CV's, body damage, etc. are not uncommon. NCLR is not liable for any damages. Enter at your own risk.

At a minimum, you should expect:

    • Pinstripes are 100% going to happen. Divorce yourself from your paint now.
    • There are many steep drops and rises in and out of washes, depending on what this year's winter brings, the roads could be fine, or a washed out disaster. Vehicles that have low profile front and rear bumpers may see scuffing/contact.
  3. I need to check the forum more frequently, or figure out how to get alerts from thread replies...

Saturday or Sundays work for me as well. It won't be difficult for me to section off an area for us, or a 'secret spot' where we can enjoy some beverages and kick the tires. This weekend is the Christmas Tree Hunting Trip...

We have a food truck at the brewery, and we open at noon. We can also open early for us at 11a if we wanted to meet earlier.

Here are some dates that I can make this work:

    Dec 11, Saturday

    Dec 18, Saturday

    Dec 19, Sunday

    Dec 26, Sunday

Then any weekend day starting Jan 8th...

I'll check the forum more frequently to see if these dates work, and I will reach out to some of our regulars with Rovers.

    Cheers

    Paul

  4. Every year, East Brother Beer Co puts on the a car show - The Summer Classic, and we are looking to show off some Rovers... If we can get 5+ Rovers, we will setup a special Rover only section...

Here are the details to get your car in the show (and a free beer).

If you have a supercar, ahem Luke, we can help show it off, but it will not be eligible for prizes. Pre-1980 supercars are eligible for prizes.

    Things we need:

    Year, Make, Model
    First and Last Name

Contact Info (either email or phone)

    - if that doesn't work, feel free to email me or our taproom manager, Steven: paul@eastbrotherbeer.com or Steven@eastbrotherbeer.com

Aim is to keep participants older than 1980. It’s free to sign up and I’ll give them a drink ticket for coming.

Participants should arrive at 11am so we can set up the area without the crowd to navigate through.

  5. The only time I have seen the GAP tool on sale is this time of year at Lucky8. FWIW.

I am running the Proud Rhino's because they were inexpensive and from what read, the same length as the Johnson Rods. You are replacing a piece of plastic with metal to trick the height sensors in both options. So I don't think it matters.

I do use the GAP tool in conjunction with the lift rods. I have a highway setting that puts me back to stock height-ish to preserve fuel economy in my daily driver. If I am off-road, I put it in off-road height. The other functions with the GAP Tool are great if you are doing your own wrenching, off the beaten path...

  6. Grabbed a bunch of SWAG today from the brewery and will be picking up the beer tomorrow on my way out.

There will be two tin tackers, one for the furthest driven Rovicon truck and the other for the best documented “hold my beer†moment...

    What’s on tap?

    - Bo Pils: Bohemian Pilsner, 5%

    - Pre-Prohibition Lager, Heritage CA malt, 5.2%

    - Red IPA: malt forward IPA, 6.5%

For the Thursday night crowd, something from my archive of releases might show up ;).

I’ll have some bags of ice and a bundle of firewood. Traveling light since my hall pass is only good for a night.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Look for the “LAGER†LR4.
