Mostly organized for the last pack. Feeling I am going on the lighter side of things. May add some more luxury once I load the truck. Still need a trip to the grocery store to round up the last of food.

The L322 gets an alignment tomorrow morning and hoping to find time to make a mount for the dune flag to attach to the rack. Need to get some fluids, which may lead me to buy a bucket of kitty litter so I can use the square bucket for said fluids. And I could use some for the garage and some extra for the spill kit.

I won’t have spares, I may bring the takeoff control arms - haven’t collected many spares for this truck. I will have a repair wire harness Adaptive Suspension connection but I might be brave and try to replace both sides tomorrow if I have time after groceries and a REI wagbag run.

Tool kit, compressor, recovery gear, pruning saw, hatchet, fuses, MOST bypass, flat kit.

Friday, I’ll use the forklift to get the tire on the roof rack and secured. Stage to the beer to pickup Saturday- I’ll do my best to keep it cold to those that ordered.

Sorry that @PaulD cannot make it, and I’ll miss the bar and shower setup, so dig out the solar shower from burning man (think it will strap inside the spare nicely) and I’ll have to get a bottle of  bourbon, whisky or scotch…

other than that, I’m completely ready.

Can’t imagine that you’d need spare control arms for an L322

  2. I’ll be bringing a large selection of hand tools including a Mikita impact wrench, plenty of recovery gear, and spares to fit my Defender (and classic range rovers). Including panhard rod bushings, ball joints, steering drop arm joint, brake line tools and parts, tire plug kit, multimeter, fuses and relays, top up fluids and probably more stuff that I can’t remember.

  3. Itinerary looks great, thanks for putting this together!  Leigh Anne and I will be leaving Reno Sun morning.  Per Google maps if we leave Reno at 8:00 AM we should catch up or possibly be ahead of the group by the Vernon Chevron station.  Should actually connect somewhere between Burns and Mt Vernon.

Found a flag, looking for the whip/pole part.  if you have a link on amazon or somewhere please post - want to make sure I have time to make a little bracket to mount on my truck.  And what's the height requirement?  8 feet above ground, or less if mounted on my roof rack (already 7 feet up)

    Thanks!

I will be heading up Saturday morning and will head straight to the trailhead. I may not be there in time for the start of the trail run and may not run the trail myself.  I’ll head down the trail and park somewhere and catch you guys on foot. I wasn’t able to book a site for Saturday night and will squeeze in somewhere.

Glad you’re coming!  We can talk about the possible Moab trip for later this year!

  5. Fun trip, Sascha was a great trail leader.  Got about 5 1/2 miles up before stopping to camp.  Only other vehicle we saw was the guy on a snowmobile that lived farther up the trail.  We used every winch, strap, pulley and bungie in our collection.  And a lot of shoveling.  Turns out that when the front axle of a 110 plugs in deep snow no combination of winch pulls or tugs will move the truck until you dig out a ramp under the front of the axle.  One final pull involved Roberto in his 90 pulling Sascha in his Disco 2 snatching me in the 110 (after much digging).
