What Did You Do With Your Rover Today?
RobertDingli replied to AdvRovr's topic in Show us your Rover!
Following the successful headliner replacement on Stu, I decided to remove the headliner in the L322. For reference, the last few screws around the sunroof require removal of the sunroof sunshade and glass. This is a bit of a pain if you have a RTT and platform roof rack. -
What Did You Do With Your Rover Today?
RobertDingli replied to AdvRovr's topic in Show us your Rover!
It’s been a busy week working on DiscoStu over the last few days. The sliders have been wire brushed and coated in clear coat to match the front and rear bumpers. (I’ll do a tech write up with the details shortly.) Rear bumper With extra reinforcing to support side returns Front bumper with new lights Refitted the front radiator air guide which fitted perfectly above the steering shield. I expect that this should help direct cool air into the lower radiator and avoid hot air recirculating back under the radiator. Note the extra front bumper bracing to the diagonal gussets. Also fitted the ARB compressor and ran air lines to the pair of lockers. RobertDingli replied to lutz's topic in NCLR Scheduled Trips and Event Information
Danny has created a time lapse video taken from his D90 https://vimeo.com/359211809 It's a good look at the entirety of the Dusy Ershim trail -
Barrett Lake 9/20-22
RobertDingli replied to Elherbinator's topic in NCLR Scheduled Trips and Event Information
Hey Eric. I’d be interested in taking DiscoStu out for its first run but not anything as serious as you are suggesting. I’ll try to get the rear bumper finished and sliders on beforehand. Let me know if there’s a milder option. -

Same. I’d like to make this run one year. -

Good to know. I might have saved lots over the last couple of years. -

Having changed many bushes on my L322 and had some subsequent failures, I will usually aim for original LR. If the price is prohibitive, next on the list are the OE suppliers Lemforder (ZF), Delphi etc. LRParts is often the cheapest if you can wait for delivery from the UK. -
Last minute JULY MORG! Hollister
RobertDingli replied to foster's topic in NCLR Scheduled Trips and Event Information
I plan to join with the L322. I’ll have the whole family in tow. -
I plan to join again this year. Last year was magnificent I highly recommend getting the GPX trail route and not relying on google maps for navigation. Several of us were lead down some non existent trails on the way in by google last year. This is a great event for kids with good swimming in the lake.

Thanks I have now booked a ride with Colin but will have many opportunities to join others over the three days. Don, feel free to invite others to take the seat.
-
Thanks Don. I think that Eric has a passenger. I’ll check with Andrew and Colin.
-
Hoping to join as a passenger. Still needing to confirm a ride.

Sounds interesting. I’m committed to a family camping trip in the last weekend in July but could make an August trip. I will also need to work around school day timing and could meet up with the group as required. Again, don’t make plans around my schedule. Edit - I just found out that the kids will still be in holiday and so I’m good for a three day trip.

Thanks for clarification. We will plan to get there on Tuesday then. This will give my brother a chance to rest overnight in the Bay Area after stepping off a 13 hr flight and avoid driving through the night. We will probably go via Las Vegas and make the 6 hr run to Moab on Tuesday morning. We may be able to join for any trail runs later on Tuesday. I plan to stay at the Last Hurrah. Assuming rooms are still available, does anyone want to share a multi berth room with two smart lookin’ Aussies? If others are camping, I like that option as well but will bring the RTT.

Just wanting to confirm dates for the Moab part of the trip. I see in the itinerary that there are plans to start the Moab trail run on Tuesday (3/19) but also that people have booked accommodation in Moab from Tuesday night. Does this mean that there are plans to camp somewhere else on Monday night and go straight to the Moab trails? Alternatively, should the Moab trail plan actually start on Wednesday? I was planning on arriving late on Monday to be ready for the Tuesday trail runs. However, I would prefer to arrive on Tuesday to spread out our 15 hour trek from the Bay Area. I have a hard earliest start time constraint of Sunday afternoon due to flights.
-
I’ll be skipping the initial trail run and aim to meet you guys on Monday night at Base Camp Adventure Lodge. I haven’t booked yet but probably intend to camp there. If there are any delays in our travels and we are forced to spend Monday night on the road, we will aim to get there as early as possible on Tuesday.

Dusy Ershim 4x4 Trail 2019
RobertDingli replied to lutz's topic in NCLR Scheduled Trips and Event Information
Thanks Andrew. If the trail is as tough as I hear, I will probably do a lot of walking and filming alongside slow moving vehicles. I will jump into whichever vehicle is available in the trail and organize the ride up closer to the date. -

Thanks Don. I would love to join you and don’t worry, I can travel light. I’ll put it in my calendar as I’m sure I’ll find a spare seat with you or someone else. I have three sets of camping kit for various situations. The ‘intermediate’ RR + RTT setup that you have seen many times, the ‘full’ RR + Winnebago that you will see in Shaver Lake (facilitates the whole family joining) and my ‘light’ single bag solution for joining as passenger in another vehicle. -

Thanks for the guidance. I’m definitely interested in being a passenger if anyone has a spare seat. I really enjoyed doing part of the Rubicon with Eric a few months ago even though I wasn’t in the driver’s seat. -

I would love to join but I’m worried about the most difficult rating. I should have underbody protection by then but will be limited by the tires I have fitted. Can I do this on 31s? If not, I’ll try to hitch a ride with someone else. -
Update: my brother will now fly in to SFO on Sunday Mar 17. We will hit the road on Monday and expect to reach Moab during the day on Tuesday. We will also stay through to Saturday and possibly Sunday in order to experience Arches and Monument Valley. After that Bryce Canyon and beyond, weather permitting. I have yet to look into lodging at Moab and will look into the recommendations here. Super excited.

I got so excited about this trip that I invited my brother to join us from Australia. He’s a keen wheeler back home. However, he is only arriving on Monday the 18th. I can either wait for him on Monday and then drive out to meet you in Moab or ask him to fly to somewhere near Moab where he could meet up with me. Either way, I could not possibly be in Grand Rapids for the start of your trip. I hope it would be OK for us to join you later. When do you expect to get to Moab? Let me know where you have or intend to book in Moab and I’ll make a reservation.
