Ran into this Canadian couple on the highway just outside of Cooper Landing, Alaska.  They were leaving the Kenai on their way north to the Dalton Highway and the Arctic Ocean.  Nice folks, nice rig.

Have a 93 Rover that's being worked on in Vermont so I picked this guy up via word of mouth.
97 Discovery with no sunroofs, rear jump seats or rear AC and it only has 32k miles on it. The original owner spent big coin in 1999 or 2000 throwing on just about every Safari Gard bit he could on it including their 3 link front suspension, lockers etc
It was left to sit in the sun so the interior needs a lot of work but a cool little project for sure once I re-learn how to do some basic work on a car.
Saw a Hubacher Cadillac/Land Rover sticker on it which was the local dealer in Sacramento growing up just like on the Rover I got.

Made some more progress around the house and the 110 is now in the garage. Good news is we did not have to deflate tires to get it in, but did have to push up on the door to clear.
Already... I'm a bit annoyed at the loss of space in the garage, so plans are forming on what needs to get done to get Roxy rolling.

Definitely fits better than Snowflake in there!

Progress continues on the rover fleet - Sunday managed to swap in the new exhaust from Robert's '91 SWB Classic.
It was not without struggles. Snowflake never had a rear silencer so the hangers and the rear bumper had to be... manipulated... to say it nicely.
Also fabbed up a nice heatshield from leftover material from the 110 project. Roofing shears made quick work of it.

This weekend was a maintenance weekend for Snowflake.
After the Mojave trip I root caused a few things and concluded that there likely was a leaky injector on the right bank due to measured catalytic converter temps over several cycles of varying lengths etc. Thankfully I had written down temp readings of both Tyler's and Gabriel's 3.9L powered range rover classics to keep as a baseline. This was very useful : ).
    This weekend:
Installed new injectors Replaced the failed vacuum advance Vacuumed / washed the truck Dropped the front driveshaft and greased the centering ball.  Grease was a bit cooked from the hot cats.. .but overall not too bad. Hopefully this week Snowflake will find its way into the exhaust shop to have the fractured and broken exhaust system replaced. There may not be a single rattle left after this job : 0

Did some work on triming and mounting fenders and hood for clearance for the brake setup.

Did some more mock up with the seats.

    Ready to install drive train!

Got around to finishing the rear cross member cut. This time the driver side. With the wheelbase stretch need to clearance the cross member from tires hitting it.

Did some more paint work on rear tub and frame.

I think I can leave the rear tub in place now.

Next up begin bolting drive train together and get ready to mount.

Put the accessories parts on and installed the headers...

Before this swapped a new oil pan gasket on and replaced the rear seal.

I wasn't really sure how I would sort the clutch. I bought a setup from an FJ40 using a small block.

Looking at the bellhousing it had a passenger side access.

So I thought I would likely do an internal slave.

But then I started looking at the pats and talking with a few friends including the one who sold me the parts.

Realized it was all setup for an external slave and would be easy enough to refresh the parts and run with it.

With the old D2 I had installed 2 rock lights on the hood shining down on the engine bay, 2 lights under the rear bumper, and 1 light on the rear door shining on the cargo area and ground. Finally getting around to installing the same mods and more to Wicked Witch! As cheesy as it is to add lights, it's extremely useful for nigh wrenching, finding your sleeping bag in the middle of the night that you forgot to set up, and to find out if your parked over an ant hill... The lights under the rear bumper are by far my favorite. It allows me to see the ground for insects, rocks/roots, and walking around the area without a headlamp or flashlight. Not finished with the project yet but thought I might as well share now.

With a black interior and lots of crevices I'm adding lights to the inside of the cargo area to make finding items easier. The inside of the D2 has lots of magnetic surfaces which I utilized by gluing a magnet to a rock light to help plan out placement.

Well my latest PET scan and numbers came back and my little trespasser has unfortunately grown and spread so they are putting me back on the gnarly chemo starting next Tuesday (have been on a maintenance regimen which was not so debilitating), that basically wipes me out for at least a week, so I am going to have to bail.
Difficult to find the words to describe how bummed I am to miss this.
    Sorry mates.

Swapped the water pump and belt tensioner out on the LS.

Have a few more maintenance items then I'll be looking to mount the engine permanently.

Scully off-road coming through with the work on a custom lt230.

1:1 high range to lower the RPM some at cruising speeds for the LS.

Also did the part time 4wd kit to take some burden off the Ujoints in the D44 axles.

Plus all the heavy duty internals!
