I had a missfiring engine today!

I was able to link up with Don and we made quick work of installing my radio.
I really like how clean it all came together, just need to paint it and it will be done.
Still need to find time to build the tire carrier for the bumper but that will have to wait until later this summer.

Harbor Freight Memorial Day weekend sale. Gets em every time.
The streets of San Jose are literally running with the orange runoff.

I'm seeing a disturbing amount of orange on Rovers lately. First DiscoBear, then Eric, now this. Was there a sale on Chevy Orange rattle cans I missed or something?
J/K - looking forward to seeing it on the trail!

Spotted some rover enthusiasts in the wild:
El Chapomint changing an alternator
and a Yokrieger upgrading his winch setup

This event sounds awesome! I’d love to attend anyone need a co-pilot? Haha my sport is a pavement stomper. I’m new to the club. Are there any mild drives/adventures coming up? -

maybe do both since its a long drive. It will be interesting to see what the flow rate at the creek crossings will be

Fordicon!
Actually just keeping a group of Rovers running through either trail alone seems like enough of a challenge to me.
I haven't followed the water flows for that time of year historically so can't say what to expect. I know even at 'low' flows that first crossing is fairly deep, having killed a fan doing it. 3' is about as low as it gets from what I can tell. But now I've got my fancy 'lectric fans so hopefully I won't be fragging any more fan blades.

Don sir,
It is finally the year that I have run out of excuses as after a few subtle modifications last few years my D2 checks all the required boxes. So yes please sign me up. I will also be bringing a buddy as a passenger a NorCal Rovers alum Josh Flores who has volunteered to spot and trail assist as needed.
Cheers
Alan

Well... these new dates may just make it possible. I am currently balancing a wedding in San Diego the weekend before and Theresa's family visiting... but priorities are important in life!!!
Spiritually I am in 100%
Reality I am in 50%
Mechanically Snowflake is in 94.24%
*initiates calendar shuffling montage*

Just moved from Thursday-Saturday to now Friday to Sunday.
Missing Thursday and Friday was a limiting factor for many who wanted to attend.

Spent a couple hours after the meeting of the members breaking down the front end.
Overall it went pretty smoothly and fast. Slowest part was labeling and bundling the crusty electrical lines....
Once complete, I spent time pondering...
To dually, or not to dually

Well didn't happen today but a lot has in last few days.
Snowflake is back on the road with no damage other than none of the windows now work. Granted I only had 2 out 4 working before we went swimming.
Replaced the starter with an updated one from Classic Car Performance
Replaced every gosh darned battery cable (the new starter was clocked and the old cables were too short)
Dumped water filled oil and refreshed with new.
Scrubbed out intake
Bumped the starter and pumped out any of the fluids left out
Soaked cylinders for a few days in mystery oil
Bumped starter again
Checked spark and confirmed fuel presence
Cris cleaned the MAF
After pumping the over-exaggerated equivalent of an Olympic swimming pool's worth of caramel macchiato out the tail pipe the engine started to cough and sputter and eventually keep running.
Replaced oil in the transmission
Got tacos
Replaced oil in the transfer case.

Last night put the finishing touches on the upgraded wiring for the new alternator.
Swapped out the stock 80amp alternator with a 120amp Bosch alternator found on many 90s Volkswagens. Why?
Can't find the stock alternator on local chain part store shelves, but the Bosch one can be found The new alternator cost the same as stock and puts out more Only a connector change needed to modify the harness Small spacer needed, no bracket modifications
Routed a rear axle breather line into the cabin to replace the one that didn't exist...

And that was just 1 Rover!
A small village came by and made quick work of helping to remove the 2.5na from Roxy.
An LR3, Discovery, and a D90 (radiator) also got some attention!
