Mr.BlueSky got a reaction from Jethro in Evoque Ecoboost engine swap
This is awesome. Nicely done on the research front.
I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Mr.BlueSky reacted to William Stephenson in Evoque Ecoboost engine swap
Range Rover uses a Ford Ecoboost 2.0 engine, just a slightly different variant. From my research it appears they used a naturally aspirated version off the n/a focus and adapted oil/coolant fittings for the turbocharger. *this is speculation as of this point*
It is a near identical engine. Most of the differences appear to be the turbo charger and a few small connectors. I got transmission and cooling system bolted up to Focus ST engine yesterday.

Meant to post this earlier - but I wanted to double confirm.
Stoves - OK
Propane Burners - OK
Portable Fire Pits - OK
Open fires are not OK unless at a developed campground.
So for those going - if you have a portable pit I recommend you bring it along.

I do not expect you will find much of an issue. Stock the classics still have pretty good ground clearance and it sounds like the forest service has been doing maintenance back in the high lakes area and most of the harder areas have been filled with gravel.

Mr.BlueSky got a reaction from RobertDingli in What Did You Do With Your Rover Today?
Many moons ago the Dusy Ershim trail did a number on my QT rear diff guard and fatigued the upper bracket to failure.
After a few minutes with the wand of healing all was well.
Not the prettiest, but Snowflake isn't trying to win an beauty contests.

July is upon us and with the world slowly opening back up we figured now would be a good time to get in a Monthly Offroad Gathering!
Attendees:
Miles - RRC
Mario & Johann - D1
Nick - L322
Robert - D2
Mike - 110
Scott - RRC
Haven - RRC
Budeck - LR3
When: July 10th-12th
Where: High Lakes OHV Area:
We will aim to grab a campsite at Long Lake.
39.993009, -121.362544
What: Come spend a Long weekend camping and wheeling up in the Lassen National Forest in the High Lakes OHV area!
Vehicles: Stock trucks should do fine as the Forest Service has filled in the tougher sections with gravel to get tucks back in to maintain the area.
(Note some adventurous driving may be needed and body damage is possible!)
Trail Info:
Camp, fish and relax in remote seclusion after a day of challenging rock crawling. Despite damage from recent fires, this is a great place to spend a weekend exploring a gorgeous high plateau with numerous glacier - carved lakes. Although much of this trail is moderate, one difficult spot before Waypoint 05 will stop most stock vehicles. We managed to get through with our stock 4-door Rubicon, but just barely. You’ll find tight spots between trees with large tree roots. F.S. 608 to Morris Lake is extreme rock crawling.

I will post up one from the South Bay shortly. However feel free to generate your own if you can't join us.
Other: Due to the Coronavirus concern - please practice social distancing and respect others' distance as necessary.
