  1. Lead It Andrew!! You are one of the most experienced crawlers in the club, so I have zero doubt in regards to your ability to lead a group through Slick Rock. I would be more than happy to be your “goose” to your “maverick” should you take on the responsibility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Ok, we shall see in the next few days. I’ve had Barrett on the want list of trails for a few years now, so woukd really like to check it out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it will be hard for anybody else to join given the short notice, difficulty of the trail, and 3 day plan. My backup was going to be the Red Mountain OhV area mear Shaver. Probably Strawberry or Mirror Lake. Only shitty thing about those trails is the fact that there aren’t a lot of camping spots, so rolling in on Saturday can be a little risky. But it is late in the season and may not be an issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Going to be wheeling next weekend. Thinking of doing Barrett Lake in the Tahoe area if another couple vehicles want to go. I have never run the trail, but I hear it is pretty tough. From what I know from second hand accounts it will be as tough as the tougher sections of the rubicon, so vehicle requirements should probably be the same. So 33” tires, a locker, recovery gear, and armor etc. The trail isn’t long, maybe 4 miles and should be about 4 hours. My plan is to roll in Saturday, chill at the lake and do lake things Sunday, and roll out Monday. It is kind of short notice, so if nobody else can make it I’ll probably do a trail that’s a little easier or that I’m familiar with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Really happy with it so far. Really like the easy auto feature of the smig. Keeps its simple for novice welders like myself. I haven’t done much and only on 1/4”, but so far the arc is really consistent and clean. The cabinet and controls are really nice too. Feel free to come by and play with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Got my new welder set up and welding some new diff guards on and a brace for my rear bumper Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Lake Alpine Resort near Bear Valley- This place has nice rustic cabin rentals for around $150-175 for the small ones. They are nice little cabins and the resort has a restaurant/ bar, general store, and paddle watercraft rentals. There are several trails nearby like Slick Rock, Deer Valley, Corral Hollow, and Sourgrass. The lake itself is nice to paddle around in and mellow because there is no motorized boating allowed. 9. Twin Lakes Resort in Bridgeport- They offer cabin rentals that are pretty inexpensive ($125-150 per night). These are nice cabins for the money. The cabins surround a big grass field that includes a volleyball area and lots of room for other activities for peopl and doggies. They also get a bunch of deer hanging out and many of hen are used to people and will eat from your hand. The main appeal of Twin Lakes is the fishing. They offer boat rentals and a general store with fishing supplies. Book early, it gets filled up pretty early. It is close by to other trails, mono lake, bodies ghost town, and mammoth lakes. 10. Klamath River Resort in Happy Camp- about 7 hours from the Bay Area, but worth it for a 3-4 day trip. This is more like a motel, but it’s pretty nice and has a really nice lawn area that leads up to the river. They are inexpensive, around $125 per night. You can walk out from the rooms to the river and fish. They also have kayak and canoe rentals at the property and will drop you off up the river. It’s really nice because you just paddle down back to the Resort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I want to make a thread that has cool places to stay with pets when we don’t feel like roughing it. Please add to the list if you a place you enjoy staying at. It can be tough to find the right place using google, so let’s help each other out with some hard to find gems. Here are some of our favorite places to go with the doggies when we don’t feel camping are as follows in no particular order: Lakeshore Resort- this is at Huntington Lake, about 30 minutes past Shaver Lake off hwy 168. They offer inexpensive rustic cabins for rent. They also have a restaurant, bar, and general store. There are nearby places to rent boats and snowmobiles in the winter. Lots of wheeling nearby and China Peak Ski Resort within a few minutes. They are rarely booked, so always a good option for a short notice weekend trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I will be attending the High Sierra Poker Run that Cal4wheel puts on for the 5th consecutive year. I have yet to see another Land Rover at the event. It’s a fun event that has runs for hardcore crawlers as well as runs that are suitable for aggressive stock rovers. Here’s the info if anyone is interested in attending. https://cal4wheel.com/high-sierra-poker-run Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Here is a group photo from Kevin, the photographer. It is included with any photo purchase. Check out his album, lots of cool shots and pretty reasonable prices. He was also a photographer that covered the WNLRR for us last year. I purchased 10 for $54. They get cheaper the more you buy. Try to buy some shots if you can and support the event by supporting the people and vendors involved. Hopefully we can him back for future events including the Rovicon. It makes the grey rover look so nice [emoji1362] Post up your favorite shots of your rig from the trip! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I also didn’t take hardly any pics. Figured we had a couple pro photogs running around to handle that. Should have really good stuff coming from them soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. [emoji23] that IS awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Looks like I will have an open seat if anybody is looking for a shotgun spot. Not sure if I’ll be going up Thursday late or Friday very early. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I don’t think I’ve seen anybody take a kayak out there, but you certainly could if you can secure it well. There will be opportunities to use it at Loon Lake and Buck Island when we camp there Thursday and Friday night. It is a very rough trail, so just make sure it is very secure. The trail itself isn’t too tight for a kayak on the roof tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Somehow, someway, we will find a way to carryon without you... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I would say if being alone is the reason you go out on trails, and the “con” experience spoils it for you, then I would definitely not recommend this event for you. Or any 4wd event on the rubicon or anywhere other trail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I also have a brand new KAM450 elocker and a couple sets of sliders Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. It is an entire third already set up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
