  2. It would be helpful to get an accurate idea of how many people are going to make the snow run and also what their thoughts on hotels vs dispersed camping. We should be able to solidify our plans by Wednesday after we hear from Camp Edison. If that doesn’t work then we will have to make a decision about the trail and also accommodations. The choices should remain between hotels/ cabins and dispersed camping and also between the Wentworth area and the Shaver area. Either way it should be a really good year for a snow run. We got buried a couple years ago and didn’t get anywhere close to reaching the trailhead. Last year we didn’t have much and easily made it the top of Bald. This should be the Goldilocks year as far as snow goes in the last few years. Shouldn’t be too much to prevent us from moving along, but should be enough to provide some entertaining challenge. I am looking forward to it regardless of what we end up doing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Too difficult to run a group trip out there in the winter. Group runs in the snow are tough in easy conditions. It’s gets nasty out there and this year it will be deep. Edison will be our fingers crossed plan. I’m supposed to get a call back Monday or Tuesday on the status of Edison. Miners Camp would be cool, but I spoke to them today and that is not going to happen. Our best second option at this point looks to be Wentworth Springs Road with Georgetown hotels or dispersed camping along the road or the same thing but Bald. Virtually all camping options other than dispersed are the same situation as Edison or just plain closed for the season. Dispersed camping is fine and normally we have many opportunities along Wentworth and Rock Creek Rd, but with a lot of new snow it will require some work to clear an area unless others have already used it recently. It does look like we will be getting some weather coming in just prior and perhaps during the trip, so likely will be bit of work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. A snowy weekend at Huntington Lake, near Shaver, in my old D2. This is exactly how the place should look this weekend. This little cabin rental is at Lakeshore Resort, which is owned by on of our members and was supposed to be the site of our annual last year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Stunning 2010 Range Rover HSE L322 very low miles https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/san-francisco-stunning-2010-range-rover/7266656858.html This has been floating around CL. He has a couple older posts for $20.5k. Obviously he hasn’t had someone buy it, but might be a decent reference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Not my Rover, but I did swap out the air suspension on the Denali and gave it a lift. Took all day yesterday and was a bigger pain than I had hoped. Wish I had a shop like Don Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. It’s Wednesday, so let’s use it as an excuse to post up some Rovers doing some water crossings, puddling smashing, mud pits, or anything involving your Rover and liquid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. You can borrow my funtreks book. I have used that to plan my past DV trips. They have enough trails to plan a good trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Andrew testing out his weatherstripping last summer on Hell Hole. One of my favorite trails to drive. Very underrated compared to some of the more popular trails in the area, especially if you enjoy climbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Got the Pacer off the ground and got a good look at her. Some ominous looking dents and a hole coming from the inside out on the oil pan. Looking at an LS swap and a T56 6 speed swap. Was hoping to get it driveable in the interim before I can find the right drivetrain to swap, but don’t think it will be worth the work now. I have a few vehicle to do’s to knock out before I can devote time to the Pacer, but I’ll probably pull the drivetrain out in the next month or so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. not a rover, but picked up a new project car. Not sure the exact plans yet. Might go crawler, might make it a fast street car Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Finally put in my repaired air locker and swapped in some 300M axle shafts in the rear. I can finally return this borrowed open diff to El Presidente. After checking the pattern with marking compound, I determined the pinion gear is set a little too far in, but it’s run that way for years now so I just decided to leave it and set the backlash. It was a put together third from Lucky 8 done by the previous owner. I’ve been wanting to regear to 4.88’s, so if I shred these then I’ll just use it as an excuse to regear both axles. For now, the free fix will suffice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. There are some cheap motels in Buttonwillow if you want to split up the drive. We usually make an evening drive from the Bay Area to Buttonwillow (3ish hours) and then head out early the next morning when we need to make the most out of a 3 day weekend. Can get a room for around $50 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Repaired the busted up Ashcroft Air Locker. Was pretty easy and straightforward once I got the bolts off. Needed to Roberts Milwaukee impact to get them off. The Dewalt wasn’t cutting it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I have a bunch of stuff from Bearmach to giveaway. We have a few really nice soft shell jackets, a couple sweatshirts, and a couple shirts. These will be available to win at the Cornhole tournament and whatever other games we come up with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. I also ran it without a rear locker but no traction control. As long as you flex enough to get both wheels on the ground it isn’t a big deal. But definitely want the rear locker over the front. I don’t really engage my front locker that often unless it’s a steep climb and doesn’t require a lot of turning. Going up big sluice might have gotten your attention without a rear locker. You definitely notice on loose climbs like that. Cadillac is steep, but pretty stable ground for the tires. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
