  1. First post updated with Friday night camping location and new details. Sad news on our part - we had a well possibly run dry over the weekend and I'll be needed on the home front to get that resolved (I'm also just coming out of a nasty illness on top of it all) so we have to bow out as trip leaders. I had spoken to Sasha late last week to take over as trip leader, and based on all of the attendees, we have a solid, capable bunch, so no one should be in for a bad time. : ). @SDS if you need the first post details changed let me know and I can make corrections. Have fun everyone!
  2. @yokrieger where did we take your LR3 when you had the brake issues? Was it Alvin's in Milpitas?
  3. Spotted a very clean stock LR3 in Hawthorne today.
  4. We have another gentleman (non-member) that is going to join us on this run (day trip for him) to check out the club. So we will keep the Cisco Grove meeting point. If folks know of close by/easy campgrounds let me know, otherwise I will find some options.
  5. Back to Signal Peak we go! Who: Anyone with a stock rover can make this trail, depending on who is attending and what vehicles they bring will determine our route as there are a couple ways to do it. So make it known if you are going and I'll update this post as a plan forms. What: A trip up to the top of Signal Peak and the site of a C.P.R.R. Railroad Lookout. The trip can be done as a day trip or as a weekend overnight. The plan will be to run the trail in a counterclockwise fashion (up the easy side, down the hard) as we will have some more modern stock trucks and vehicles without front or rear lockers in our group. When: Daytrippers: Saturday 10:00 Overnighters: We can plan on camping Friday and Saturday nights. Where: [Daytrippers] Plan to meet at the Lucky's Travel Plaza gas station in Cisco Grove for a 10:00AM departure Saturday morning. 90 Cisco Rd, Soda Springs, CA 95728 [Campers] For those headed up Friday, plan to camp here just off the beginning of the Fordyce Trail - Saturday morning we will work our way over to the Travel Plaza to pick up the day trippers. Coordinates: 39.33885, -120.58018 Communication: We will be on 146.460 per usual. My cell is 402.741.0231 if you need to get a hold of me. Some reading on the trail: https://myoffroadradio.com/signal-peak-4x4-trail-review/ http://4x4trailmaps.com/4x4Trails.php?Trail_ID=82
  6. Depending on timing... since Snowflake missed the Rovicon... might be able to make this. Though at some point, someone is bound to notice I'm on trail or fixing rovers more than I'm in the office : /
  7. Thanks everyone for making another great annual! Please find here the Club photos album. https://photos.app.goo.gl/8Kvhpc7v33AEjjQT9
  8. Just got in to Golden Pines. when you roll in stop by the front office for a vehicle hang tag. Just let them know you are with the rover group. You’ve already been checked in. Bears have been a bit of a problem, so food/coolers/fridges need to stay in vehicles overnight. Trash has to be in the bin by 6pm before they do rounds and collect it. Fires out by 10pm. The communal campfire will be held at site 114 to help keep audible space between the RV park folks and our group. see everyone soon!
  9. They haven't updated their online side yet - but it likely will show up here. https://blog.roversnorth.com/current-issue/ Overall they stayed true to my write-up, a few creative licenses were taken here and there... and I saw they had some misspellings. Cie la vie
  10. Spotted in downtown Campbell last night. Anyone we know?
  11. I think we will probably try to leave Friday morning - happy to help organize a caravan if folks want.
  12. Corral Hollow is seeming pretty popular on the Annual registration poll so I expect this one to be run.
  13. Cris stopped by last weekend and we got his awning bolted up. He also helped throw some firring strips down on the barn... which may very likely will be stuffed with rovers and or rover projects in the future. Now to find some roll doors....
  14. We will be doing a chili cookoff again this year! I will post the Annual Details this weekend. (In between roofing the barn and doing some welding for Cris ; ).... gotta do my chores too.
  15. That's like today... Unfortunately I'm not Santa :"(
  16. The Rivian did really well. Granted, the most technical bit was the last bit down to the lake. (Sparsely scattered small boulders). Really nothing of a challenge at all. The R1T had plenty of ground clearance and almost double that of Snowflake's-diff-to-ground. Trip from Truckee to White Rock takes about 45-60 minutes depending on how fast you take the washboards. We entered from Truckee and exited through Bowman, with the regenerative braking, Dan only consumed 7% of the pack capacity. In contrast, Snowflake sucked down 25% of a tank of fuel. So the Classic was once again more range limited than an EV.
  17. Will keep a look out! Does he have a timeline?
  18. Post has been moved. Marked our calendar! We should be able to make it on the weekend of October 21/22 - is anyone planning on camping?
  19. I picked up an el-cheap many moons ago for snowflake but ended up pulling it out due to lack of use. It had it's own external monitor - I prefer the integration into the rearview mirror for sure for the backup cam.
  20. Sorry for the delay - here is a link to share the photos from White Rock Lake! https://photos.app.goo.gl/ATLqJ8ocBBXoNNSQ9
  21. No rain at the campsite, though there was some sprinkles but nothing substantial
  22. Interested! Paul, are you OK if I move this thread to a public facing section of the forum? In case any tentative members want to check us out?
