  1. We do attempt a monthly brunch on weekends.

There is also the monthly Offroad gathering.

Check the club calendar and keep eye out for event posts. Which, I think we may be due for one of those.

Anyways, welcome to the club. As MrBlueSky said... there is a good number of us in South Bay.

    I’m near downtown.

    quote name="Enderwiggin187" post="190882" timestamp="1568435620"]Hey Thank you!

I just picked up the disco and have been getting all the bits and bobs sorted out.

Do the bay area members ever do a cars and coffee like event?

As for the annual, you can count me in. I spend a lot fo time near Alpine, Union, and Utica reservoirs.

  2. John, we did a joint trip with the AZ land rover club for New Year on the Mojave about 3 yrs back.

It was a solid trip - you shouldn't have issues with the LR4... someone on our trip also took their LR4.

The variable is the water crossing near the end of Mojave Rd, where depth depends on rain, etc. When we went late Dec, it was about 3' IIRC.

It does get cold at night, so have some warm clothing and sleeping bag.

I can't remember if anyone posted trip gpx file... The trip was lead by AZ club, but maybe ping @DHappel or @RedRover who recorded the trek... That was before I knew Gaia existed....

Here is thread. Last couple pages has pix of the trip.

It's a fun trip! Have a good time!

  3. Not sure why the other post got mixed up with something from 2007... So, gonna try again and see if this works better.

We are getting together for our monthly Peninsula Drip in the Dirt tomorrow, on Sunday, August 19th.

We’ll meet at 11 at the Refuge in Menlo Park, parking in the lot to left of the restaurant.

    See you there!

  4. Unfortunately for me, work gets in the way of life... i won't make the original dates, and plan to run this on Aug 30 - Sept 1.

If someone wants to run on the 16-18th, I'd be happy to share the Gaia map.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Same plan, different days...

    • When: August 30 - Sept (Friday to Sunday).
    • 3 days trip - Friday to Sunday. We'll start from Shaver Lake, and through forest roads, make our way south towards Buck Rock Lookout point. If there is enough interest, would consider extending to 4 days.

    • Day 1: Shaver Lake to campsite (30mi). Given the 4hrs+ drive from bay area, this leg to campsite will be short & straight forward. This will gives folks plenty of time to get to campground before dark, set camp and relax a bit. There is a gas station at Shaver Lake, so you can gas up for the weekend here. Most of this section is paved before getting onto forest roads. Along the way, we will drive past the McKinley Grove, and we can stop here for a quick break and wander amongst the giants. After this stop, the forest road will take us to 1st camp at Sawmill Flat CG with 15 campsites. We will make camp here the first night.

    • Day 2: Sawmill Flat to Big Meadow CG (80mi). We will continue south on forest roads. Depending on timing, we can break along the Kings River at Mill Flat CG. We will continue south until we hit RT180 (paved road). We will make a left continuing on RT180 into Sequoia National Park (bring your National Park Pass if you have it).  We will stop at the Grant Grove Village (visitor center, convenient shop & restrooms), followed by a stop to see the General Grant Tree.
After this stop, we’ll continue north for approx.. 10mi to Hume Lake, where folks can gas up. Then we head south again towards Big Meadow CG area, find a nice patch of dirt and set camp for the evening.

    • Day 3: From Big Meadow CG, we will take a longer route over to Buck Rock lookout.  For those up to it, we’ll hike (stairs) up to the look out, chat with the ranger staying there and learn about the area. After this, we can explore the area some more, find a spot for lunch before making the trip back to South Bay (~220 miles/4hrs+)

  5. what's the code you're seeing? A number of things could cause mis-firing.

Have you ruled out the ignition coil packs? You can try moving the coils and see if the misfire follows the pack or stays with cylinder.

Basically, use magic marker and number the coil packs. write down which is misfiring. Then move the packs from 1-2-3-4 to 2-3-4-1 (or whatever). Reset & clear the ODB2 error, drive car and see what comes up. If the misfire follows the coil pack, then you have a bad coil and that's easy to replace.

Disclaimer... I don't own a range rover, but i've troubleshoot engine misfires. :)

    good luck!
