What is my Range Rover worth?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find a good estimate of the value of my Range Rover for my insurance coverage.

I've check sites like KBB and NADA but I don't think they have have good data for a car with such low sales figures.

I have a 2009 Range Rover Autobiography. There were only 2,370 Range Rovers imported into the USA in 2009. Of those only about 142 were the Autobiography edition. The KBB and NADA sites don't even ask if I have the Autobiography edition when giving used car values.

Since there are so few out there, how can I get a good idea of value of my car for my insurance? I think it's worth a lot more than what I paid or what various websites claim.

Of course, I could be nuts. But then again, I may be right or wrong about my car value and also be nuts, but that's a whole separate topic.  :D

So, any suggestions on how to get a good idea if my car is actually worth more than the online guides would suggest?

Thanks!
Larry.

Are you trying to figure out total loss value for your ins company? did they ask for a value?  I have agreed value ins with Hagerty on my cars.

Or are you trying to figure out the cars value for re-sale?

I too have a low mileage L322 and my last one was written off with no agreed value and I was still compensated fairly.

Fortunately my Range Rover is fine. I'm trying to figure this all out before any issues arise.

But if I call Hagerty to get an agreed value policy, I think it would help if I knew the value!

I bought it for $17K this past Nov and have put a few thousand in repairs in it and a few accessories (clear bra, NavTool, etc.). With less than 39K miles (I've put on a lot since buying it) I'm guessing I may have one of the lowest (if not the lowest) mileage example in the USA.

I'm guessing this is worth more than the $20K I have it. If a meteor were to fall on it today I doubt I'd ever find another like this.

With Hagerty, how did you come to an agreed value when you setup the policy?

Thanks!

Larry.

Stunning 2010 Range Rover HSE L322 very low miles

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/san-francisco-stunning-2010-range-rover/7266656858.html

This has been floating around CL. He has a couple older posts for $20.5k. Obviously he hasn’t had someone buy it, but might be a decent reference

Yea, but that's the "HSE" and has many differences from my '09 including an engine that needs a very expensive timing change job every 60K or so. I don't know how to derive a fair value from that to my RR. I know a lot of this is personal preference but I would rather have my '09 Autobiography than this '10 HSE. To me, mine is worth more but to someone else... well maybe not.

This is why I'm no so sure how to come up with a fair value if something horrible should happen.

Thanks,

Larry.

I too agree on the pre 2010 cars as that 5.0 is another Rover ticking time bomb!  the 4.4 & 4.2 Jag/Ford motors are much better as long as you maintain them (as with all cars) I looked high and low for a supercharged L322 and ended up buying a 1 owner Black on black (not my favourite colour) 69K miles car for a really good price from a Porsche customer of ours.

Re: Hagerty ins.. you decide what your vehicle is worth and your policy amount reflects that... pretty cool!  thay will not insure "off road" vehicles so my RRC 25th is with another company. But they insure my highly modified 83 GTI

I would say your car is easily worth 20K but I would insure it for 22k if you keep the miles down

I can't give you a fair value of the RR as I'm not especially dialed in on them, but I would agree about Hagerty - they're one of the better specialty insurance companies around from what I've seen.   If you wanted to search for specialty sales to compare it to, maybe try looking on BaT, Hemmings, CarsandBids, etc.  With low production volume you'll still have the same low sales numbers but you're more likely to find educated specialist buyers/sellers on these sites than CL, Ebay, FB, etc.
