Midnight - checking in.  Literally - just checked into the Hampton Inn in Red Bluff.  We played radio tag with Jared from about 505 & 5 and caught up to them exactly as they were pulling into the parking lot.  Perfectly timed!

Not sure if Enrique is staying here tonight as well, but if so we'll see you in the morning.  We'll be looking for Rupert as well.

Safe travels everyone.

I just back from movie and late dinner at Ihop w/my boys. I won't be a spoiler on the Jurassic World movie! Just wait for it to

show up on Netflix! :)

Enrique just took off from San Ramo @ 10pm; my guess eta is about now or 1pm.

Bear, if you can post a picture of the carb can, I may have a spare cap. Let me know before I leave early tomorrow morning.

And folks, we will be meeting with Debra Duchi instead, another board member of the local Habitat for Humanities same time range/same place

in Weed. Pat had to drive up else where to pick-up supplies. I've already contacted Debra and she is looking forward to meeting up

tomorrow.

Ron, when I was talking with Bear about the cans, these are the ones he was looking to pick up from 4WP.

Ok I found one that may work; will see! Thanks Brenton for the virtual support; we feel your presence (voice Yoda) even though you're not going. :) :)

I's been a truly rugged, hard-core trip so far.

As you can see, the hotel parking lot was full.  We had to park in the RV area and make a harrowing trek to our rooms.

Along the way there were fierce creatures to overcome, including this guy standing sentinel along the path.

OK, sorry, just killing time and taking advantage of the wifi while I can.... :)

I'm 1mi from you people to my house

LMFAO. How would Michelle feel about that. And most lot lizards don't really want you taking their picture. Tsk tsk.

Safe travels to you all!

Well come on over Rupert, don't be shy!

We'll be heading out about 9, so 25 minutes or so to departure.  Next stop:  Weed!

I hate to leave you poor working stiffs all alone down there in Cali, so a quick check-in while I'm in civilization to drop Michele at the Redmond airport.

Our first day started out easy enough.  Just your basic fire roads.  Then the manzanita came to attack the sides of all the shiny new LR4s.  Chris might owe his wife a detail job.  Not a problem though - out came the machettes, axe, and hand saw.  Onward!

Then we encountered a rather larger obstruction.  To give you an idea of the magnatude of this obstruction, ask yourself how often you hear Ron curse.  Yeah, he dropped an F-bomb over the radio in shock!  Trees.  Lots of trees.  Very Big Trees.  I mean to tell you, these were trees of significant girth.

Not to be dissuaded, the chainsaws were out and on the job in minutes.  Of course, my saw is only an 18" bar.  To give you some ideas, 2 of the 8 or so trees blocking our route were so big I couldn't cut through them even coming in from both sides.  But we cut enough that we were able to rig a triple line pull to Enriques truck (after we strapped it up to another tree so we didn't drag the truck forward) and break the last parts still holding the trees together.  I have no pictures as I was busy playing lumberjack, but the other guys have plenty.

Seeing that this was going to be a multi-hour effort, the members with kids aboard decided they'd just track down a detour and they made it to camp ahead of us.  But knowing no Camel Trophy team would be put off by mere downed trees we pushed through in about 3.5 hrs.

I don't have time to upload all my pics but here's a link to my photobucket album where I'm filing pics as I can.  Tom- if you can, perhaps you can just snag the pics from here and put them in the Smugmug account?  If not, I'll try to move them when I return.

While our comrades were tapping into their CT roots, the rest of us managed to make it to camp. Life was rough for a bit as my margaritas hadn't completely frozen enough for my liking. post-621-143441310738_thumb.jpgpost-621-143441313697_thumb.jpg

Now Michal's truck suffered an air suspension failure and we have managed to locate the issue (a air distribution block failure but he has the emergency air up kit so we are ok). Made it to La Pine and have a part being overnighted for a repair tomorrow.

Oh wow, that's quite a drive :o  Glad to hear everything went ok. What happened with your missing cap to the gas can?

well to be honest I didn't put it on right because i didn't want to strip the plastic threads. but we went to NAPA and they sell just the cap and spout. $7.00. Now I know how it goes on and as far as i know they didn't leak. Thanks so much for looking out Brenton!!!
