BEAR
If I can go first week in May for us. I was wondering how windy the camping spot is? We would love to camp one of these days but don't really have any equipment for that kind of wind.
Disco2Guy
The camp is pretty well protected, but there's no guarantee when it comes to the wind. It usually picks up a little at sunset with the temp drop too.

We would love to camp one of these days but don't really have any equipment for that kind of wind. Honestly, it can be a crap shoot with the wind. Since you are at the beach there is always some wind during the day. The camp area is set back away from the beach proper and sheltered a bit by the geography of it's location. In the three years I've been up there first year was great with minimal wind. Second year was a windy hell. Winds didnt die down until after sunset. Last year was great again, winds had been blowing offshore all week so the dunes were soft but. Normally when the afternoon winds kick up is when we normally head up to Garcia Ridge. GraemeWare
Well its looking like may 1-3 is the date. Graeme if u guys cant make it let me know a date maybe in the fall and we can do a second pismo trip. Ill post up on SCLR in a few days Lutz, I could see that was the way it was going .... We have a firm commitment from 9:00-1:00 on Saturday (since October unfortunately, and I was the one that set that date, so hard to ask about 50 others to change now) and it will take us about an hour to get back and collect the Land Rover. So, allowing 3.5 hours for the 225 miles, we should be there around 6:00pm .... and we'll have a German friend with us to show him how crazy we all are .... GraemeWare
German friend? All I can imagine is in Fawlty Towers, Basil has those German guests.... Rupert, Oh, do I have a story to tell around a campfire about that ....very embarrassing, and thankfully many years ago, while hosting a German Engineer in England (late evening, in the hotel restaurant/bar, when the owner of the establishment was doing his Fawlty towers impression ... not realizing the guest Engineer was German .... he thought the accent was Scottish!) ROVRMAN2
Speaking of accents, how about the scene where Basil admonishes Manuel on the amount of butter ON THOSE TRAYS?Manuel:"no señor...UNO, DOS, TRES! John Cleese... A great comedic mind sorry for the hijack. Still undecided about Pismo.
