Desertcrawler Posted March 7, 2014 Report Share Posted March 7, 2014 Mendocino Gold will be held on Saturday April 12, with a start and finish in Ukiah. The rally is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America, San Francisco Region. It will be about 300 miles, and about 12 hours long. About a third of the miles will be on dirt. Mendocino Gold will use many of the same roads used by the Mendocino Rally as stages, except that assigned speeds will be safe and legal, and early arrival at a check point will receive the same penalty as late arrival. It marks the resurrection of DCRAWLR after it was written off by the insurance company as a total loss. And a chance to explore some interesting roads. Anyone else interested? Hit two of the checkpoints exactly (with no deduction for missed time). Over 200 miles of rally-car style driving in the backwoods of Mendocino. Beat out 9 other competitors in Subarus to take home grand prize for Beginner class. Good navigational experience for Death Valley...and DCRAWLR is now officially back in action...
