  1. We had a great weekend at Lost Lakes. No smoke! Will definitely go back. We took road in and Tamarack was too low. Went past Blue Lakes and then to Lost Lakes. Came out straight north to 89. Cool trail with some rocks and steps but most any rover should be able to make it. George Whitehead joined us Saturday afternoon. Liam caught a beautiful trout from the paddleboard!
  2. There's smoke outside of Carson city but no worse than we've seen before.
  3. Dang. Already have something planned that weekend. But Overland Pros will donate something for the raffle.
  4. WRL is a great spot! Great spot to paddleboard and kayak. There are plenty of trails to explore in the area for more wheeling. Hike up to Mt Lola for some great views and it's right on the Pacific Coast trail. Unfortunately fires and charcoal are banned everywhere so bring propane fire pits. I'm hoping I can make it but kids sports are killing weekends!
  5. Hope u all are having fun. I'm rolling down to Death Valley Thursday thru Monday if anyone is hanging south for the weekend. Let me know on whatsapp or phone. 415.599.six.four.seven.seven. -Ted Speicher
  6. I blew one tire on Mojave Road. Then my wife ran over some metal so 2 down. Ugh. Was going to upgrade soon, but my hand was forced. Bought some 265/70 r18s General Grabber X3s.
  7. Trail Ready beadlocks! US made, all aluminum.

Took her on Mojave Road and she did great though I blew a sidewall on the 'offroad' tires. Upgraded her with a Front Runner rack, Overland Pros Anza 2000 roof top tent and Overland Pros Wraptor 4K full freestanding awning.

I was going to wait for a diesel, but JLR won't be bringing any stateside soon, if ever. So I started my search and found the truck I wanted. Eiger grey, P300, both offroad packs, tow pack, heated seats, no sunroof. Everything I wanted and nothing more. Rover Rocklin shipped it up from Walnut Creek.
  10. Check out the first review of our new Overland Pros Wraptor 4K awning on Overland Bound channel. It is an awesome fully freestanding 270 degree awning. Also, we have our 3rd gen shower/privy available. Talk to Nick or myself about an NCLR discount! https://youtu.be/YFqWeHfRKf8
  11. I use Dino oil. 15w 40 Delco from Costco. It's an old design without the tight tolerances in new engines requiring synthetic. Main thing is to change regularly. I used synthetic for a few years and then switched. I also run standard green coolant and no DexCool. 4.0/4.6 is 1960s technology pushrod engine.

  13. I will bring some extra camping gear I dont use anymore...stoves, tables, etc, selling for cheap. Just taking up space. Wish I could've jumped on the L322 tire carrier!
  14. I know Todd well. He went with us down to Baja a few years ago. He will be a great guide, but guided trips are expensive.
  15. Jaimy (white D1) and I (p38) are heading to Bowman Lake and will be trying to find a campsite at Sawmill lake, the next lake up the trail. Sounds like the trail is finally clear going through Washington city. My buddy tried White Rock Lake last weekend and ran into too much snow. Bowman Lake road is still washed out from 3 years ago and the river is too high to cross right now. Dont follow Google maps! I will have my 3 kids ages 9 to 12 with me. Bringing paddleboards and hoping to hike around. Come on up if u have a free weekend. I will have handheld HAM 146.460. Should be beautiful up there!
  16. Tim Scilly in Sacramento knows his way around all rovers including the older ones. He mainly rebuilds and does ground up restorations but also smaller jobs. Colin is awesome as well. PM me and I can get you in touch.
  17. LR4 has twice the cargo room and you sit higher. Suspension is softer. Surprisingly, the RRS weighs more! RRS prices have come way down
  18. Yes. Its the nature of the beast. Gas injected directly or very closely to combustion chamber and therefore not spraying the valve and valve stem. The gas cleans the valves in older engines. You can get a throttle cleaning periodically and highly recommended for the 5.0 V8 and V6 engines. The V6 is the same basic engine with 2 cylinders not used.
  19. According to Alex who owns a rover shop in Sacramento, the direct injection motors (5.0 and 6 cyl supercharged) have been know to get valve build up requiring major overhaul. This is due to the injectors spraying into the combustion chamber and not above the valves like older engines (Lr3). Be sure you get an induction cleaning periodically to avoid the costly repairs.
  20. Looks like fun for the family. maybe head to bowman lake for a night of camping afterwards? i put it on the calendar.
