  1. On way at Tehachapi Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. We will be arriving around dinner time the night of the 6th. Is there a reccomended camping location I could get gps cords for? We checked out the casino (Harrahs) that takes dogs but there is an $85 per night pet fee.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Tyler and I are in. We will be driving the SARBURBN. 8500 pounds of coal smoke and torque paired with a 147 inch wheelbase. Take that all you 110 owners.
  4. Tyler and I are interested. We may not have either of our Rovers working, but can make it in his Suburban..
  5. Hi Lutz Linda and I are going to try and make it to trailhead by 10am. Don’t wait for us, if traffic from Bay is bad we will catch you on the trail Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Made it to rly. Roads over Donner and 50 are dry and clear Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. y Yup — what Don says. I think we will be off Kokopelli by mid day Monday - ir ends in Moab so we can then gas up, get dinner, find campground or hotel, etc. Tuesday I’d like to do Fins and possibly Hells Revenge, if we get entire group together in time. It is a trail no one should miss.
  8. Hey guys, I updated the front page of this post with more details and some questions. Mainly send me your cell phone number (so I can start a group chat we can use to communicate while heading to trailhead) and also if you are using GAIA send me the email address I should use to add you to the routes folder so you can get them on your naviagation device. I am thinking for Monday night that Tyler and I will camp at the campgrounds in the City which are near trailheads for Hells Revenge and Fins -n- Things. We can run Fins -n- Things on Tuesday, maybe check out Lions Back if it can still be climbed, look around some of the stuff near town (including Arches NP trails. I need to get my Dad at airport at 3pm, then head to the grocery at 4pm to meet my cousins and drive in with them to the Adventure Camp. Hells Revenge (plus another one in that area) seems a good plan for Wednesday - it has lots of tough obstables but also bypasses. So we can all play around and get comfortable before tackling some of the other trails with no bypasses. So I have Don, Mike, Rob, Chuck, Tyler + my cousins --- am I missing anyone?
  9. We would overnight in Grand Junctiob at trail head Saturday night. Then take trail on Sunday, spend Sunday night on trail, also Monday. have room booked at Last Hurrah starting Tuesday.night so we can do trails that day too. I have to pick up my Dad who is flying in Tuesday night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Plan would be to camp on trail Monday night then get to base camp adventures on Tuesday. Serious trail runs would start wed, thurs, fri, sat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Updated first post with more information. I did confirm there are spaces available from the place we are renting our "hogan" and also that camping is available there. Suggest you guys stay there, but another option is Moab itself and we can meet up each day when we do trails.
  12. Nice! We are planning on doing the Kokapellli trail and arriving Moab proper on Tuesday. As far as lodging, we are doing something a bit unique — staying in a female hogan — think hut with sleeping on floor— that I found on air bob. The host says he has other places for rent too.. the website is basecampadventurelodge.com. I am meeting my cousins family in MoAb — they are not off-roaders but will come as passengers possibly but wanted a pllace to hike, kayak, etc— and he has that stuff for rent. We are staying there Tuesday night through Saturday morning. Of course, if you want to stay in Moab proper we can always meet up each day near the trailheads. The website is basecampadventures.com and we are paying $135 per night for a room (hogan) that sleeps 6 through Airbnb. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Ok plans are progressing. This would be a combo expedition and Moab trip. I am meeting Tyler on Saturday night in Grand Junction, Co and we will then embark of the famous Kokopelli trail for a 150 mile trek to Moab, where we will be Tuesday - Saturday I am reserving a cabin near Moab, and will lead day trips on 3 or 4 trails. Will include some challenges. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. UPDATE AS OF 3/12 (Tuesday) Dates: March 15 (Friday) and/or 16th (Saturday) to commute to Grand Junction. March 17th and 18th on the Kokopelli Trail. March 19th through March 23rd near Moab at Last Hurrah, and March 24th for the commute home. I will be leaving Bay Area on the 14th (Thursday) and heading to Grand Junction to arrive the night of the 15th (Friday) to meet with Tyler. We plan on doing some advanced scouting work to make sure the parts of the Kokapelli that are at elevation aren't snowbound and check out some of the stuff around Grand Junction. We will most likely get a Motel 6 (they are cheap and allow dogs) in Grand Junction proper. I will post up an actual rally point for the beginning of the Kokapelli and the place we can all meet on Sunday morning to start in. The route I will be taking may be different than 80 - I may take the smaller two lane highway across Nevada (loneliest road) just for a change of pace and cause I am running on retirement time not stolen away from my work week. Part 1 of this trip will be following the world famous Kokopelli Mountain Biking trail from Grand Junction to Moab Utah (in Rovers of course). Our plan will be to spend all day Sunday and most of Monday on the trail, then emerge and camp someplace near Moab on Monday evening. Most likely the city campgrounds that are near Part 2 of this trip will be overnighting near Moab (in Last Hurrah) while running trails the 19th - the 23rd. I am open for trail ideas, current thinking is: Tuesday - Fins and Things/Hells Revenge - Fins and Things is a good gatekeeper trail, to get you used to driving on slickrock and to test your vehicles abilities. Hells Revenge is a classic trail not to be missed, on of my favorites. Wednesday - Golden Spike (featuring the infamous Golden Crack) Thursday, Friday, Saturday (TBD) - Lots to choose from. I think some of us may split off to hit Arches National Monument and do a trail there to see and explore dinosaur tracks, etc...If you have a favorite (ie Pritchet Canyon, Metal Masher, etc) that you want us to run, lets figure out the list Logistics: The part 1 trip will be expedition style, we will overnight in a motel or camping are the evening of March 16th and then head out the next morning at 9am on the 17th from the trailhead near Loma. We will follow the legal 4x4 portions for about 150 miles before arriving at Moab. You need to be prepared for two nights of remote camping along the trail. Here is a link which includes a GPX file so you can see what the trail is all about: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?148532-Kokopelli-Trail Part 2 logistics will be for you to either camp or get lodging in last Hurrah. For details , see basecampadventurelodge.com. It is located in Last Hurrah, Utah. Not a lot of options for food or drink there, plan on stocking up at the grocery store in Moab for all the essentials. You will have option of joining in on the days trail runs, or instead staying around there for hiking, ATV riding, kayaking, etc. Tyler is bringing his dirt bike. I understand pretty much everyone will be staying Tues - Sat at Last Hurrah. Let me know if I have that wrong. I am choosing some trails we will run each day but schedule will be subject to change. Right now, it looks like: Tuesday - Fins and Things Wednesday - Hells Revenge + possibly another Thursday - Kane Creek, Chicken Corner, etc.. (a set of trails near Last Hurrah) Friday -- ?? TBD Saturday -- ?? TBD Sunday - head home Participants: 1. Chuck Mobraten (DesertCrawler) in a blue D2 with front and rear lockers and winch. Doing both parts of trip. Adding my dad (Dave) who is flying in to Moab airport at 3pm on Tuesday. 2. Tyler Mobraten (lilKrawler) in a white D2 with front and rear lockers and a winch. Doing both parts of trip. 3. Greg, Linnae, and Nathan Clfford (in a bone stock Toyota 4x4 with a camper shell). (Chuck's cousins). They will most likely not do trail runs in that rig. Doing Part 2 only of trip. 4. Don Happel & Michelle -- They will do Kokapelli with us, then drop off Michelle in Grand Junction Monday night. 5. Robert Dingli - do second part of trail. May meet up with us Tuesday morning sometime to do trails. 6. Mike Foster - in it for both parts, will meet us Sunday morning for start of Kokapellio I think I understand each vehicle and its capabilities, but we will be trying some "tough" trails rated as 7's on the attached scale.. Let me know if you have doubts about your vehicles capabilites. I am only running 33's, but have done some of these trails (even though they say 35's) it just takes a bit longer. d, I'll try and keep the main page updated as planning progresses as well. What I need from you is: a)Send me your cell phone number at 650-208-1175 so I can start a "group chat" we can use to communicate enroute to trailhead and meeting points. b)Send me the email address you use for your GAIA subscription so I can share a folder with you containing all the trails we will be running. c)Confirm you have Ham radio and post up your call sign - mine is KI6WSR - Tyler is KI6WSS. More questions? Post em up!
  15. Dropped off my left front Radius arm to Cerrone's in order to get new poly bushes installed. Had to drop steering linkage ( including Graeme's protector) to get it off. Next step is to reinstall and repeat on the right side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Well, my Rover is miles away but I am thinking of her... Ordered up some parts to take home on the plane. New polybushings for my front radius arms plus some Wheel Arches so I can finally do some cutting on the wheel wells using them as a template and get more clearance. Hopefully the arches will be transportable as my checked luggage and aren't too big... Getting ready for my trip to Solihull and poking around the Birmingham area over the weekend looking for Rover parts.
