  6. Cutting and fenders flares are done plus some bump stops for a defender. Now we'll see how much it rubs... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Working through getting the fenders finished... adding on fender flares. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Huh [emoji86] did you say something?? [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. So I was able to finish the other front side and then actually drive it with new tires...and man are they loud! Seems to run well but did have the tac stop working. Now on to the rear... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I've run into this where new seal didn't solve and bought a whole new flange kit for the same reason...grove worn in still caused a leak. For the price I'll just replace flanges in the future since its a nuisance to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. So I was finally able to get the wheels on as it seems who ordered them from kmc didn’t think about clearance for the axle flanges. Looks like they sent in 4.5 in which is the dimensions of the flange so requires running a spacer. Which is fine, but on a 17x9.5 wheel with 4.75in BS leaves the 35x12x17 hanging out the side. So now it’s on to cutting the wheel well sides off and adding fender flares. Looking to increase my bump stop size as well to limit up travel and have more droop. If it all works I’ll keep my center of gravity down and still be able to run the larger tires. If not I’ll be adding the larger springs or spacers. So just finished the first one yesterday. 12. Okay so bringing this thread back to life!!! I picked up some new to me wheels and tires from a new defender owner who’s going to even bigger tires! Likely he’ll join us at some point, lives right outside Hollister hills. Here’s some picks of the new shoes... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I’m off the week of Christmas to new year’s, so I’ll find a day that works and come on down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I finally got around to getting my dif guards back on last night! Been a giant pita, should have just listened to Don and drilled the holes and retapped to a M10 vs messing with what we thought was M9 but turned out to be bsf 3/4 by 20. I actually bought the bolts twice as I didn’t realize the first ones were 2”. So finally got them returned new 1” arrived this week. Next time I’ll upgrade to a metric bolt... 15. Definitely on my bucket list to build!!! [emoji109][emoji869] Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  16. So I finally got around to making the greatest upgrade a land Rover owner can make... signed up for AAA premier road side assistance. [emoji23] I've also been working on my headliner, took it out over a year ago to redo and finally have it back in the car. Now just finishing adding back the plastic pieces... looking forward to having sun visors again!! Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  17. Was thinking the same thing... Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  18. Have a lr4 and a D1, so could work something out too if you needed to borrow for a period of time for measurements. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  19. I hit him up, he's coach Mac, but think others might have jumped on it already. Did have some electrical issues so wasn't a perfect one. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  20. Coach Mac has one he knows of for sale...80k miles for around 6k. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  21. Had heard of the flip, first attempt failed as it actually reduced clearance. Then checked some additional pics and realized you slide it up after flipping. Requires removing rear wiper but seems like there is very little use now for it given visibility is almost gone. :-) The grounds are probably worth exploring... I'll see if I can locate those and do the same. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  22. So it's all back together and drives well. Had some challenges with the newly rebuilt radiator but seems to be doing well now. I haven't been able to really test it though as I'm having electrical gremlin issues. When I first started it up my brake lights stayed on. I then took for a test drive and came back and parked it. As I went to remove the key it just stayed on... ended up realizing lights were on. Reinserted the key and shut lights off and then the key shut off the car. This happened a couple more times. I then decided to look at the lights. Pulled them out and started it up, then reconnected them watching the lights. Brake lights stayed off at first, but then came on when I turned the lights on. So that's where I left it, need to now figure out what to do next. Thinking about looking into brake light switch again. Really need to work with someone else and a multimeter tool and start testing connections. Once I'm legal with lights I can revisit the lockers and get the air compressor and switches wired up. I did take a minute to do the tire carrier flip which seems to work out well and should be enough space for when I ever go to a 35" tire. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
  23. Haven't gotten that far yet, I'd like to be comfortable with the not over heating. Also it doesn't hold the most stuff, so likely depending on how many days I can make and what the family is most comfortable in. The D1 is on its way to being a trail specific rig with the LR4 doing the overlanding trips. I really want to get it out for some day trips/shorter runs to get some more practice in. Even a run out prairie city would be great just to test things. I also need a trip to your shop so we can the compressor up. That's one part I'd like some help with. 24. I finished rebuilding the rear end and adding in the upgraded summers Bros Axels. It's finally back on all four tires!! So tomorrow I'll add fluids to the diffs that are now running gbr 4.11 gears with ARB lockers. The original gears are pretty mangled too, definitely time for a change! After that I'll install the newly upgraded radiator and coolant hoses. Then it will be time to start it up it up for the first time in over a month... I'm really excited to get it going! 25. Well I know where to go whenever I get one... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
