Luckily I called the Almanor Ranger district and they are wonderful at confirming the exceptions
You lucked out there!

Also don't forget your campfire permits!
Miles,
I think you will find that all fires and stoves are banned currently, except in developed campgrounds.

I would like to join you on his trip. I need to get my sliders welded in before the 24th. I am welding in 2" 11 gauge supports from the front of the slider to the frame.
Andrew,
That is the cleanest chop saw I have ever seen!

Base on the photo posted up there, he has the same wheels (Method 701 16x8 0 offset with 285/75-16) he's not rubbing. But he's running wildpeaks. Toyo contacted me and sending tires.
I'll try it and see how it'll be.
I said on standard wheels. If you're running 0 offset then that is like a standard wheel with a 33mm spacer, so that should work for steering on full lock. Bear in mind that you don't get something for nothing. Bearing wear and ackerman angle will both be affected, although maybe not enough to concern you.

Graeme

Pls, if you're able to. I'll bring my jack etc lol...
Let me know when's a good time for you before I order new tires.
I think Miles has them on RRC wheels and you have a D2, so it won't help you much. The largest you can fit depends upon the brand and style of tire, but a 265/75 on standard D2 wheels may or may not rub on full lock, but will not rub arches on full articulation. For example, a BFG AT KO will not but a KO2 will (due to the side biters). Not enough to worry about though. A lift in itself will not help with arch rubbing, extended bump stops will. At full compression the axle will be in the same place whether you have longer springs or not. A 285 is going to rub on full lock, without wheel spacers (on standard wheels).

Yeah. I think I am done for now with LR, I got into the fascinating world of electric cars, we have a Bolt and a Leaf now, and I think my next 4x4 will be electric (and LR has no plans for that right away, so....)
We can help you solve that problem ....

Thanks Graeme - Is the shop that used still around? If you don’t mind - can you share?
Thanks,
Phil
I don't actually know the name, I just know where they are (San Carlos / Belmont border, on Industrial). I'll look next time I'm over that way.

Hi Graeme - What did you end doing? If I read the thread right you didn’t think Lseats quality was that great; Did you find a local place that you can recommend?
Thanks in advance.
I wasn't doing mine, just researching for the future. Tim was the one looking. LSeats samples didn't thrill me, and I have a local shop that did some amazing seat and carpet work on a prior XJS, so I'm sorted for mine (actually have an XK8 seat that I want them to redo soon). It was a few years ago, and it was pricey then though.

And I got rid of my LR3 (only a one Land Rover guy here); feels good to have minimized my fleet!
Ron,
Next you'll be saying you went over to the dark side and bought a j---
I recently justified having multiple LRs. A discussion about how you go shopping and prevent infection. It doesn't matter how many masks or gloves you wear while shopping, you touched every item. You then touch the bags, the door handle, and then the steering wheel. Even if you change gloves, you touch the new gloves while putting them on. Next time you go out to your car (within the "72" hours that are often quoted as 'infection time') you touch those items and .... but if every time you go out you use a different Land Rover then you're safe!!!
Stay safe ... and buy Land Rovers

Does this mean you escaped the island?
Miles,
Yes, but only just. Basically, the State Department said to get home within 48 hours or risk being abroad "indefinitely". I didn't like that idea, so complied.

Yo people where you at? I know you aren't at work
As we approach week 2 or is it 3 of shelter in place how is everyone doing?
Miles,
Actually, I worked 56 hours last week .... when we come out the other side I'd like a job to go to, and unless I make sure my department hits the ground running, we will be last in line for tradesmen to do the real work. Now is my time to get vendors on-boarded, quotes in and analyzed, and P.O.s placed. The big "E" saw a large number of my P.O. requests yesterday.
It is raining this weekend so I can't get outside to do garden work, and the Rovers are sadly neglected.

I would like to try wenching my Landy backwards using my own wench and 3 snatch blocks. I have been told it is possible but I haven't seen it done before.
Totally possible to winch backwards using a front winch, but remember one thing. If you're moving a 5000lb vehicle out of mud you may need more than 5000lbs effective force. The reason a pulley system works in this scenario is because you have 2 x 5000lb at the back against 1 x 5000lbs at the front, so it is the difference causing the motion. It also means that the benefit of using a snatch block is only to reverse the motion, not to multiply the force (the normal reason for using a snatch block). So you'll need a good winch to really make this useful (although demonstrating it works on the flat is easy, and should work for any winch). Add two more snatch blocks and it works even better!

If you have the Lseat samples, does one match the Sorrell Beige?
If you have the Lseat samples, does one match the Sorrell Beige?
Tim,
There are quite a few pale browny colors, so one might be close.
Where are you in S.J.? Anywhere near 237 (680 to 101), as I drive home that way and could take a spin past one evening.

Greetings to all you deal grabbers!!!
As many of you now, we at RoverWare.US (that's www.RoverWare.US) don't usually participate in the mayhem of pseudo-sales. You know, the "up to 30% off" but what you want has just 10% off, or less. We prefer to offer deals all year (after all, if a company can sell cheaper, why don't they do it all year around?)
This year we are making an exception for LR3/LR4/RRS owners.
We have stock of wishbones/control-arms that are just getting in the way and need to go!
Usually we sell these 'each', but these deals are going to be pairs (that's one for each side!) at a discount of at least 20% off our usual already low price.
Some are genuine LR others are Bearmach (which I believe to be OE).
Please check fitment for your vehicle, as these are "no returns". Just one set of each available. Delivery to most of Bay Area free (and possibly along the I80 corridor too).
Remember, prices per pair!
Rear upper LR3
RGG500052/RGG500042 OE at $192
Front Upper RRS (stiffer bushes apparently than LR3)RBJ500840/RBJ500850 OE at $145 -- soldFront Upper LR3/4RBJ500232/RBJ500222 Genuine LR, one even in a box, at $154 (at that price we're giving them away!!!)SOLDLower Rear LR3/4
LR051592/LR051594 genuine LR at $300 (find a better deal than that and we'll try to match it and give you a free sticker!)
Lower Front LR3/4RBJ500446/RBJ500456 BM at $300 -- soldHope you all had sufficient turkey!

I have not heard of them. Good luck!
When I re-do the 110 Seats I plan to detrim the old seats pop out all the stitches and break the trims down into patterns (The individual fabric pieces).
At this point, you can take them to a (^a good) upholstery shop, with material of your choice and they can reconstruct new seat trims using the original patterns.
Miles,
A good upholstery shop would prefer to have them as-is. They're used to doing this and prefer to see the original, so don't strip them.
I have the samples from Lseat and am not that impressed. They also don't seem to do all the rears.
I have had Jaguar seats done, but never Land Rover. It is amazing how often you find your 'leather' seats are only part leather .... but I'm telling that to a seat guy!

Graeme

Using Don's D1 as a reference, why don't you chop the top off and build a roll bar and have a canvas top installed? You could do most of the work yourself and it would be fun to build. It would have a very low center of gravity and you could flop it over all you want.
"and you could flop it over all you want" -- using Don's D1 as a reference?

Be on the lookout for Stolen Discovery 2 (Malibu)
Last seen:

I think this must be a spoof. Who would steal a D2 ? Last time I lost mine, I found it three days later outside the same bar that I left it outside, with the keys still in the ignition and the door unlocked ....

There is something weird with the forum post or my account, and it’s somehow pulling posts from years ago.
Not sure what happened and unfortunately nothing I could do to change it.
2 different posts by me, and old contents get injected into them.
Sunday August 19 was either 2012 or 2018 .... but not 2019

Evoque Ecoboost engine swap
in General Discussion Forum
Posted
I hope it doesn't turn out like the kit car build I was involved in back in my teens. Everything was going great, we had substituted better parts (mainly Porsche in place of VW) and had everything lined up and running. Wasn't until the test drive that we realized why others didn't do the same transaxle swap that we had. We had four reverse gears and one forward! By using the 'wrong' transaxle, we'd changed the drive direction.

Graeme
