***OFFICIAL MILES WYNN APPRECIATION POST*** Let me explain. I’ve been home for 24 hours. I needed to leave a few miles early because of family needs. Wife at home with our energetic boys for 6 days alone. Having checked in with her on Night 5, I could hear in her voice it was time. I knew what I needed to do and what it meant. I would have to tell our leader that I was hitting pavement. Having traveled together with Group 1 since Sunday and in the Convoy the day before, I definitely felt a sense of commitment to you all and if there was a way I could have seen it through, believe me I would have. I’m a new member. This was my second outing with the Club. I’d made Shaver in February and knew an extended overland trip is what I needed. I had actually been planning a trip through Mojave Road right around the time the pre-run happened. So it was serendipity that the Club was organizing EMHT. I jumped on registration as soon as it opened having no idea what to really expect. But after months of planning, spending, and over-analyzing, it was time to join the Convoy down in Gilroy. Upon meeting Miles for the first time Saturday morning, he radiated passion for this lifestyle of ours and I was admittedly expecting someone much older! There. I said it. I can’t explain why but I just had a vision of some salty Rover die-hard leading me across the desert for a week. I’m grateful it was him instead. It was evident to me that he had invested an enormous amount of time and energy of his voluntarily planning this trip, for us, so we would all enjoy an epic adventure. The planning, the attention to detail, the effort to share the knowledge from the books, the commitment to the groups. That doesn’t just happen. That takes someone willing to put in the work. Someone that wants the best experience for everyone he’s leading. From Mike and Leanne all the way to Biko the Adventure Dog, he wanted the best for us all. And I for one truly appreciate what it must have taken. I’d like to think I made some great new Club friends out there walking around the mines and Joshua Trees of the EMHT. Thanks to Miles Wynn and all those that helped organize and guide the trip! Cheers to you my friend. We had an unforgettable time. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Hey Mike. The Convoy rolled in at just before 6pm. Gas at Thalypo in AZ is apparently the cheapest. Didn’t sound like are formal dinner plans yet. I think an informal vote for Wagonwheel Breakfast at 7:30. I’m in 115 and hope to catch Paul to load the beer. I’m at 707-256-9423! On a beer break now and heading out for gas when a bit cooler. 🥵

😯 totally mixed that up. Thanks buddy for some reason thought you guys were out last weekend! Hope it’s a good one. Hopefully next year’s won’t conflict with another club event.

How was the trip? Was there an album posted up?

Less than 3 weeks out and trying to prioritize projects. Do I need a few jerry cans mounted on board? With stops in towns Tuesday and Thursday, I'm leaning towards putting them in the "nice to have" category and not the "must have". Am I wrong? I have the cans, just would need to get them rack mounted. I recognize the question fully reveals my noobiness and the gear list does say to bring extra fuel so...Ok.

Wish we could make it and put into practice everything I learned a few weeks ago on Bald Mountain but we've got some Cub Scout camping on the agenda! BB guns and archery😁, but no wheeling- 36 replies
