  1. Hey everyone -

We have our annual Oceano Dunes Trip this weekend.

Lopez Lake Online reservations must be made two days prior to arrival date. One-day prior or same-day reservations can be made by phone (805) 788-2381 or at the campground.
The phone line is available Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
The office is open 7-days a week 6:00am to Sunset (Closing times vary depending on time of year)
If the office is open: staff will help you make a reservation.
If the office is closed: temporarily camp in a vacant site, check-in at the office the next morning.
You may need to move in the morning, depending on availability.

Hitting the Dunes on Saturday morning - roughly around 10 - 11 am.  Meet after the entry gate to air down.

In the event that the dunes are blocked off because of the river - we will head to Big Falls Trail.

Pozo Saloon is closed - so, no point in going out there.

Land Rovers of all kinds welcome - from stock to whatever.  Just make sure you have a shovel, and recovery points on your vehicle.

Mandatory:  Offroad flag.  I have purchased them at the liquor store, on the way towards the last strip, before the entry to the beach.  Also - make sure you have a mount too.

If its your first time at the dunes - don't worry - its a lot of fun.  if in doubt - point your vehicle straight down the hill is what I have been told.  Below are two instructional videos that you should view - if you haven't driven in sand before, or, not a bad refresher if its been a while.

I will have a 4-pack variety of East Brother Beer Co for registered drivers. I will be arriving with Lutz and will distribute Thursday night so you can throw it in your cooler to chill it - beer will be picked up in the morning but Richmond to Rubicon is a warm journey.

    - Bo Pils

    - Red Lager

    - Blonde Ale (our newest year-round beer)

    - Festbier: our autumn seasonal lager

I’ll likely bring some other varieties for my private stash and to keep my driver properly lubricated for the weekend.

    see you Thursday.

I think the Red Lager as passed Bo Pils as my favorite now.

  3. Hello everyone -

For this project - my goal is to make this a very capable overlanding vehicle, that can do some moderate crawling, if the need arises.  With that in mind - what would be the biggest tires I could fit, without having to cut fenders on this RRC.

Currently - it has a about a 2" lift - I don't mind going taller, however, I would like to be able to park it inside a normal size garage.  (so, keep it under 7 ft tall).

    Thank you!

  4. Hi everyone -

My next project is a 1992 Range Rover Classic.  The interior needs a little love.

Item 1:  The wood trim is peeling off - and from my prospective, I feel it is beyond repair.  I also do not feel like dropping another $1,000+ for a fresh set of trim pieces.  As an alternative - I was looking at this vinyl dash kit - and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?  https://www.rvinyl.com/Land-Rover-Range-Rover-1989-1993-Dash-Kits?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7uSkBhDGARIsAMCZNJshhGVhur-b29tWCSAaL9LTgtlTT2n9eQyeIX1KF1m98XNWwp8y5IAaAlPzEALw_wcB.  Or, if you have other suggestions - I am open to them.

Item 2:  The headliner is kaput!  Reminds me of my 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo with the drooping ceiling.  My current plan is to order a new one from https://www.masai4x4.com/other-vehicle-accessories-and-parts/Headlining-Roof-Lining-Kit-for-Range-Rover-Classic-p461745680. I have had good luck with their Defender headliner - and I like the fact that it is sturdy, and not just the cloth and glue type headliner.

Item 3:  The seats - I am planning on getting them redone - https://www.lseat.com/products/1990-1995-range-rover-classic-coupe-custom-real-leather-seat-covers-rear.html This seems a pretty fair price.

I would love you get your advice on what you have done - as this is my first foray into the realm of the Range Rover Classic.

    Thank you!
