I’m heading up to Strawberry Lake this weekend. Going to head out on Friday and come back Sunday. My departure time will be dependent on Merlyn’s dialysis appointment rescheduling, but I should be able to leave somewhere between 9 and 1 from the Bay Area.

The trail is a mild rock crawling trail. It’s pretty short, takes about an hour each way. Any high clearance vehicle can make it, but it does get tight in a few spots and rocky. Lockers aren’t needed and armor isn’t necessary with a lift and a careful driver.

The lake at the end of the trail offers a few primitive camping spots close to the lake. There is no running water or garbage, but there is a very primitive outhouse that was in very rough condition when I was there last summer.

I spend much of my time there fishing. I have always had good luck catching trout. For such a small lake, I have pulled out some decent sized eaters. So bring some trout lutes and bait.

So if anyone wants to join me, let me know. It’ll be myself, Merlyn, and 2 or 3 of my dogs. It’s also a good place to set up camp and run some of the nearby trails in the Red Mountain area during the day
