Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch Day Trip

Recommended Posts

Fall is here!

In a week the annual event will be over and you know you'll start missing everyone so let's plan to meet up again.  There is a huge corn maze and pumpkin patch up in Dixon that I've always wanted to go to... let's go!

Who: all of you!  Families, spouses, friends, but unfortunately no pets.

Location: Cool Patch Pumpkins in Dixon, CA http://www.coolpatchpumpkins.com/

Cost:  $15 per adult and under 5 is free for the corn maze.  The maze has intermediate and advanced paths and pick your own pumpkin area.

Date: Saturday, October 15th or 22nd - what day works best for those who want to attend?

I've attached a photo I took of last year's maze map - it looks intense!  I hope we can get a nice convoy of Land Rovers for this.

I could maybe do that, though the route I'd be taking to get there wouldn't likely line up well with any caravans.

Here's another one I've seen for years and thought about stopping by.  It's on I5, a little south of Stockton.

We've done that one several times, we live about 4 minutes away.

It's a good one, they've all kinds of other activities as well. Shooting up old cars with small pumpkins is also strangely satisfying.

Been going to Del Osso farms for a while as I went to HS there. Never heard of the Dixon one and that's strangely close...I'm interested in attending.

Alyson,

I love this idea - Thanks!!

I'm also chuckling at the notion of a bunch of Rovers showing up in full expedition trim....as we do... and getting out with GaiaGPS apps in one hand and Baufeng Radios in the other.  ;-)

Pending location amenities, we could all park in the same area, drop the tail gates and gather round some pumpkin spice lattes (had to go there), Hot cocoa, etc...

Thanks for posting the idea!!

Tom

Can we drive the rovers through it?

I actually thought about calling to see if we could after their season is over, but the more I thought about it, it seemed unlikely they'd want to be responsible for a bunch of 4x4s ripping up their fields.

Yes, odd to think they might actually *use* the field and corn after people have had their fun... I would assume it still has value as pig feed...

October 22nd is the day we are going to the corn maze and the event has been added to the calendar.  Haven't figured out a time yet, because some people really want to go to the maze later in the day like 4pm or later since they turn off the lights and you can use a flashlight to get through the maze after 8pm.  Still hashing out the time so if you have a preference, speak up.

So looking forward to this!

I go every year with some of my Seadog friends. We go in the evening, it's a lot more interesting in the dark! And we have one rule: No map! We usually manage to get through in about 2 hours with no shortcuts. It's a blast!

Also, Dave's Pumpkin Patch at Viarra Farms in West Sac. is pretty cool, we (my band) will be performing there for the third year in a row, on the 22 and 23rd. We'll be dressed as characters from the Haunted Mansion.

We're looking to do the corn maze in the late afternoon to evening time because we might be able to do a trunk or treat for the kids in the parking lot.

Also the 22nd was chosen because of the Tepui-fest on the 15th.

  • 2 weeks later...
Hey everyone. Just a reminder that this Saturday we are going to the Cool Patch corn maze! We are going to meet there at 5pm. I'll be coming from San Jose so if anyone wants to caravan along in a very cool procession of Land Rovers, start posting.
