Gauging Interest: Trinity Nuclear Test Site

Recommended Posts

I've been doing some research, and the US Government opens up the Trinity Site two days a year. I'm planning on trying to go the first Saturday in April, so if anyone happens to be in NM, you are welcome to come with me. It's about 2.5 hours away from Socorro.

I'm probably going to take the Alamagordo entrance.

That would be very interesting.  A few years ago I met up with a friend from NM at a Triumph gathering in Taos.  He had always been very quiet about what he did but was obviously very intelligent.  Turns out he works at Los Almos and took a few of us for a short tour - nothing fancy but it was cool to be there with an 'insider'.  He still won't say what he does there.  He might just be the janitor for all I know, but you get that feeling he 'knows stuff'.  Sort of like talking to a special forces guy, they don't brag or really say much, but you just get that feeling there's a lot going on underneath.

Now would I actually drive out there in April?  That's a tough call.  Maybe is all I could say.

Tyler,

Sounds like a challenge ... want to have wager on the side?  We'll need some rules too though ...

Graeme

Hmm. Not quite sure what you are thinking there. It's usually not a good business decision to wager with people with no money. :P
