BEAR
I was just wondering when the list of trips for 2013 might come out? I hope everyone had a good new year!
Disco2Guy
Hi Barron, Right now, we have the Shaver Lake Snow Run Feb. 8-10, Death Valley March 29-April 6, and of course the Annual Event first weekend of October. I'm sure more will pop up over the coming months. I'm in the very prelim stages of planning (started yesterday) for a week long adventure in Sept., but won't post anything about it until I'm through with Shaver. If there's a specific trip we've done before (or a new one you want to do) and you want to attend, post a thread to see who might be interested. The previous trip leader could get it going again, or you could take over the trip (I took over the Shaver trip from Ron about 3 years ago).If you're not sure where to start when it comes to planning a trip feel free to post that up. We can definitely help you get one on the books. Happy New Year!
El Solis
I too am looking to lead a short weekend trip in Aug for the Perseids meteor shower. Probably 8/9-8/11. Drive up fri night head home sun am. There's a nice lake just north of Truckee. Stock vehicles can make the off road part. More details as it gets closer. BEAR
I like the Truckee lake idea, and I've never seen a meteor shower so that would be something I would be interested in going on.
El Solis
It's pretty awesome. My dad and I did this a few years ago. It's a fun drive in at night and the lake is pretty sweet. Good swimming and fishing and miles of trails and lakes to wheel if you want. The drive it can be short less than 2 hours off road or long 4-6 hours depending on where you want to start the trails. Jen
I'm still up for co- leading Lost Coast. Ron, are you still in?We had talked about other possible dates, with better weather than Veterans Day, no road closures.
Desertcrawler
I tried to add Death Valley to to the calendar -- but we can only add things with a date in 2012 or earlier...funny...

TomOwen
Truckee/meteor trip sounds great! Also interested in the lost coast run, and of course, Pismo ;-) We are also on the list for the Mendocino Rally which is in July this year. JFuller
I have been tossing around the idea of leading a trip in the sierras. Basic idea is Bowman Lake to Henness Pass Road to Reno, then up some forrest roads to Truckee. From there it could be highway or Soda Springs road all the way back. I'm thinking of making a new event that occurs annualy but in a different location each year. This trip would be stock vehicle and family friendly. Depending on how many miles we want to drive it might be 3 days.
Dean K.
Theres a great trail not too far from Dusy-Ershim that is suitable for stock to wild rigs. I don't remember the name, but it's about a 20 minute drive from Chicken Rock. All the really hard bits have bypasses, and there's everything from slickrock to creeks and everything in between. ROVRMAN2
I'm up for the postponed Baja trip. Wasn't there a lot of planning that went into that trip? Mexico should be safer(?) now?
LandRonB
A little research this morning, I believe it is the Bald Mountain trail. Bald Mountain is a great place. We've done several club trips there during the summer, and in fact, die hard fans are going there this Feb for the Shaver Lake Snow Run. Are you interested in a summer run? I used to be a member of the Sundowners, and they had a Poker run there every late summer. That entire area has a LOT of good trails, from mild to wild, and any one of them would be an excellent trip! Count me in for any 2 or 3 day trip! I also LOVE the Meteor shower idea. I'm totallly going to that. I wish I could go to Death Valley, but I'm in for Pismo.

FYI, the DoD ans State Dept. are only allowing "Mission Essential" trips to any and all parts of Mexico at this time. The region is deemed "Unstable and volitile" for any travellers, with several warnings having been issued. As a DoD employee, I am not allowed to travel there, and would caution you all that a trip there could be dangerous. Dean K.
The warning area extends primarily to south of Ensenada. But there are patches elsewhere, the whole state of Baja (North) being under advisories. I dunno.

But there are patches elsewhere, the whole state of Baja (North) being under advisories. I dunno. I didn't read the warning that way. Just the 2 big cities Tijuana and Mexicali. No mention of the east side of Baja, sud of San Felipe. I agree with you. I dunno. Northern Mexico Baja California (north): Tijuana and Mexicali are major cities/travel destinations in the state of Baja California -see map to identify their exact locations: You should exercise caution in the northern state of Baja California, particularly at night. For the one-year period ending July 2012, the number of murders in Mexicali increased by 43%, from 127 to 181, over the preceding year. The number of murders in the city of Tijuana was 351 for the same period. In the majority of these cases, the killings appeared to be related to narcotics trafficking. Targeted TCO assassinations continue to take place in Baja California. Turf battles between criminal groups resulted in assassinations in areas of Tijuana frequented by U.S. citizens. Shooting incidents, in which innocent bystanders have been injured, have occurred during daylight hours. Twenty-five U.S. citizens were the victims of homicide in the state in the 12-month period ending July 2012. Anway, I'm heading to AK in June 2013
