SLOHybrid
For all of you going to RR9 Corinne & I tagged along with Adam Spiker & SCLR this weekend and ran the John Bull trail in Big Bear and had a lot of fun especially as there were @ least 5 LR3's & 1 RR SC sport ... some turned around @ the Gatekeeper and 3 LR3's continued on which was quite amazing due to their lack of ground clearance... I wanted to let you know this trail has many large boulders for the entire 7 mile trail and the LR3's made it through unstrapped except for one "mother" section. I had no trouble getting through it in my LWB on 32" tyres and F&R ARB's but 33's would be nice as the under carriage of my RR is grazed everywhere as a result... thank God I have Armour all under it although my rear driveline looks like a Barbours sign now due to all of the boulders hitting it. Took us 7 1/2 hours to complete the trail with 9 trucks I think @ the end. http://johnbulltrailmay09.shutterfly.com/
LandRonB
Excellent. It's intimidating when the first part of the trail is called the "Gate Keeper", and most are named such for a reason. Trail looks dusty. I saw a black DII w/Safarigard theme stickers and mods - was that Casey in the driver's seat. Did you powder coat your rims or painted it; looks good. I just a set of the same type of rims (but in Chrome) - don't like the bling and considering silver or black: http://johnbulltrailmay09.shutterfly.com/93 Looks like a great trip; thanks for posting. SLOHybrid
Thanks Ron, Yes the trail is dusty but not as bad as Death Valley ha ha! That is Casey in his D11.. he mentioned to me you made a group buy on the rear bumpers I have been pestering them to re-make for years.. good job only I can't afford one @ the moment! The wheels are primed with Rustoleum and painted with http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/8603/img22411.jpg buy 4 cans as I used 3 so you may need a 4th.. it looks good until you hit the rocks and because the TWR's stick out the wheels are all scuffed up now oh! well. With chrome wheels take a green scouring pad from the grocery store or if you have a proper purple pad from an automotive paint store scuff the chrome up good until it is all dull and then the primer will adhere.. you will only need to use the primer as a sealer so no need to sand the primer just wait 5 mins ( in the sun preferably) and shoot the black on @ least 4 coats. I think I am coming up Sat to Hollister are you? Thanks Nathan. Exellent. It's intimidating when the first part of the trail is called the "Gate Keeper", and most are named such for a reason.
