Brake Line Kits

Recommended Posts

So I'll need to build the brake lines from scratch, starting to do some web wheeling on the topic and thought I would see if anyone has any suggestions or products they recommend.

Thanks in advance.

1. NAPA for on-hand local stuff

2. Speedway/JEGS if you plan it out on paper first.

NAPA

If you have a nearby NAPA worth their salt, they have an awesome selection of hard lines (both fuel and brake) in many different lengths. They also usually carry a good rack of brake line fittings.

Many trips were spent going between the Genoa NAPA and the body shop when I did the brake lines for the Bel-Air.

Speedway/JEGS

They sell coils of cupro line (copper nickel) that is flexible and you can conform it to wherever you need it to go. You'll want to get a good flaring kit too. Always cut your lines long, occasionally the flaring tool will split the end of the tube and it will never seal, then you get to cut it off and flare it again! : ). Practice helps.

Other random good stuff:

Expensive flare tool: https://www.eastwood.com/professional-brake-tubing-flaring-tool.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiA14WdBhD8ARIsANao07hsgjH5w6gk845vDfBVtzX8WLc1vY5p2uwv4VUZwc0Y3gLxEfDOeM8aAlK1EALw_wcB&wcid=18669317646&wickedid=639466471844&wickedsource=google&wv=4

Typical flaring tool - I use this a lot - https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Performance-Tool-W80670-45-Degree-Double-Flaring-Tool,2928.html

Brake line bender - don't cheap out on this one... I have broken so many over time bending the steel napa lines.

For reference I broke this one but 100% done with brakes and starting on fuel lines. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Performance-Tool-W80675-Fuel-Line-Tubing-Bender,2718.html only $11 so I bought 3 and broke 2 : ).
