Wrenching day - Saturday 1/18

Recommended Posts

I'll be doing a little work on my D1, installing a high-output alternator and some new coils plus maybe some heavy-gauge power wiring to go with that alternator.  So why not make a day out of it?

Wanna put  your truck up on the lift and check something out?  Just want a hand or some tech advice on a project?  Or just want to hang out with fellow Rover people and drink a beer?  We can do that.

I'll open the shop around 9.  Located in Walnut Grove so semi-central between the bay and sac people.  DM me if you need an address.

Boo... I will be headed the other direction...

but alas not all is lost. For I am following the rainbow to hoard of RRC parts. :)

And after you return, will you share that pot of gold with those similarly afflicted....err blessed?

I suppose there will be much bartering to be had yes... especially since the rear quarter panel ended up being NOT the lower fuel port one :(

Which is sad. Because the color match is spot on

So was this a rig you bought or a location with a parts vehicle? I remember fondly my early days with my RRC when I could still go find stuff at pick n pull. No longer.....

So anyway.... wrenching day was relaxed.  JR came by and we did an under-truck inspection looking at what's what.  Didn't find anything too scary and we were able to repair a stripped oil pan bolt by drilling and tapping for a larger bolt from the old parts bin.  On my truck I got the new high output alternator installed and made up a larger 4-gauge wire from the alternator to the distribution block to better handle the current.  I pulled my old coil bracket off but didn't get around to putting the new coils on it just yet.  I'll do that tomorrow I suppose as I need to dig out my T25 Torx.

Sounds like a day well spent.

I made one oil cooler line... so I think you both beat me in productivity terms.

Which truck did JR bring over? I hear he has become quite the connoisseur de Rover. :)

Neither - simply went and picked up the last parts from a buddy that no longer plays with the RRC  - mainly because "series trucks are more fun."

Which in all fairness - he might have a point there!

JR brought the rally Rover (D2) down.  There may or may not have been an undisclosed D90 present too.

Though I have a not-so-secret plan to build a Series truck in the future, I think there's a legit claim that the RRC is the best looking Rover.  Full Stop.

I love the look of my RRC, but I do admit to enjoying the lines of the D2. However, my S2 is the best. I like it more than any other Rover, with maybe a 107SW coming in...although not higher than my RRC
